Serious post. Bullying on this site. 17:22 - Jun 3 with 13251 viewsOriginalMarkyP

I do think recently that a bit of a bullying culture has developed on here. It's a bit ugly to be honest.

Nothing wrong with joking and having a debate, but there are some on here who attack everything certain posters on here say, regardless of whether they agree with it or not. And that's a bit crap.

I'm not part of any #BeKind movement but maybe think for second about the person on the recieving end of your 'witty retort'. Some people have a pretty low threshold after a lot of time locked indoors with the pandemic, especially ones with pre-existing mental health issues. Maybe think about how you word it, it doesn't take more than an extra minute.

We all support the same team after all. COYB!

I can't tell if you're being serious or not, but there are ways on pc, tablet and mobile to capture screen grabs, and there are ways of contacting people in this forum to deliver concerns to.

People can tell Phil. It's not hard.

Except he's on about me sending him a PM calling him a troll racist piece of filth.

But Phil has known for days, I told him myself. Nothing to hide here. Np.

You'd have to be a seriously wet lettuce to be bullied by me!

I'm a seriously soggy spinach and feel very put upon by you dear boy.

Didn’t know if there was a quick and easy button. It was just someone calling me a ‘piece of sh1t’, I didn’t really want to bother admins with a message about it

Might it not be more prudent to bother an admin about it rather than broadcast it? The latter seems just as much a hastle of you ask me - that is unless you prefer the public support/backlash. If that is the case then it is hard to really claim you're being bullied as you are simply whipping up a reaction.

I’m not sure it’s meant to be bullying, but some responses do come across very insensitively. Some people seem remarkably intolerant of people who disagree with them and incredulous that someone can have a different opinion and be sane. The result is that reasonable debate seems difficult because people intelligence is called into question far to quickly. Quite often a few basic manners would be helpful.

That and use of the ignore button. Personally I find that my enjoyment of the forum is increased when I div list those who wind me up for various reasons. It’s not necessarily them, but it certainly helps me!

Would you care explain what contentious posts I made.

I brought it to your attention that i was being cyber bullied by a group of posters

The response was bascially it's my fault for wanting to discuss players rumoured on social media to be linked.
I did not start rumours of players. Just posted what a few that was being discussed

Having looked back I started only 2 new threads on player link rumours.. the rest were replies to other peoples OP's.

The latest cyber attack on me was because I said I wouldnt believe a posters source. Not the poster but their source.

I've been off the site since my last post.. and counted 7 threads where people have brought my name into it.

And on the day of my last post. There were 8 posts about me before I'd even logged on.

So yes there is a bullying group on here. But no 1 moderating is interested.

Just a total misrepresentation of the facts.

The reason he got it was for looking for a reaction.

I stuck him on ignore a year ago when he was all covid-denial, then anti BLM and then anti anything.

The videos he started posting, threads he started got deleted after pages of rows, only to start all over the next day.

Then he takes exception with my posts and starts being a twot again, following me about. Phil has a word and he makes promises, then last week starts it all again. I stick a couple of effs into him and he's been following me about ever since.

I reply to you because, as I say, apart from maybe half a dozen posts in 12 months, he's been on permanent ignore.

He knows all this btw.

He's hanging on in there because he should be facing a ban at last.

Been desperately supporting that openly racist Barney for months and is feeling a bit isolated now he's gone.

To be honest, when your last avatar was of an American flag burning, you're not all that unfamiliar with provoking a reaction yourself.

If you really want to see bullying on TWTD you would have had to be around in the day when board members had their wedding photos posted on here by others.. Now that's bullying

i do think this has got a lot worse during the pandemic. there's a group who seem to have become angrier and are using the board as a sort of group therapy - they post stuff repetitively, agree with each other more and more fervently, and attack the same people again and again. i hope it's working for them, but it's pretty much killed the discussion and humour that the board used to be good at.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

It would've been simpler to ignore him knowing his feelings. It's the little things. I'm no angel, far from it, so this my last word on it but I think I'll only comment on football matters from now on as my views seem to be a long way from the views of many on here and I don't want to give admin grief.

When it is general politics, I try and type more passively. Often, if I think comments will be taken the wrong way, I simply delete them and don't post them.

When I feel people have gone for me personally on lightweight topics, I've simply blocked them.

But when it comes to issue like race, sex, disability (thankfully I've never encountered this one on here), etc I will go after people if they show themselves to have sustained bigotry or a clear and calculated motive.

People don't then let that go when those same posters start posting on other topics. And why should they? If someone was being racist or defending racists one moment and then happily moving onto another topic a few minutes later in person, this wouldn't fly with me. And I can see why it doesn't fly with people on here.

That and people start crying when their bigotry is held to account by multiple posters.

It's worth noting that I'm seen as being in some sort of rabid left-wing group by some of these bigoted people. But the reality is I've had strong disagreements on issues like Nazism, veganism, environmental sustainability.

I'm not in some sort of consensus block, I just will not tolerate people denying others the right to equality.

It was your last word on it 45 minutes ago, sunshine.

And FWIW I posted an emoji on that thread. That's it. So that's bullying now, is it?

Seems an incredibly low benchmark and tbh I think you're just trying to make me out to be far worse than I am. But that's OK, people can make their own minds up.

And yeah, maybe leave your 'interesting' politics opinions fot he next Con Club meet-up.

Why should they give the OP an uppie if they don't agree with it?

Is calling them out for not liking the post bullying? It would seem to be under your/the OPs definition, you are trying to force them to align with the view by shaming them for not liking it.
