Serious post. Bullying on this site. 17:22 - Jun 3 with 13252 views | OriginalMarkyP | I do think recently that a bit of a bullying culture has developed on here. It's a bit ugly to be honest. Nothing wrong with joking and having a debate, but there are some on here who attack everything certain posters on here say, regardless of whether they agree with it or not. And that's a bit crap. I'm not part of any #BeKind movement but maybe think for second about the person on the recieving end of your 'witty retort'. Some people have a pretty low threshold after a lot of time locked indoors with the pandemic, especially ones with pre-existing mental health issues. Maybe think about how you word it, it doesn't take more than an extra minute. We all support the same team after all. COYB! [Post edited 3 Jun 2021 17:23]

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 22:05 - Jun 3 by 26_Paz | Didn’t know if there was a quick and easy button. It was just someone calling me a ‘piece of sh1t’, I didn’t really want to bother admins with a message about it |
I’d say that PM had you pretty much bang to rights. I think you’re an invidious and wretched little stirrer that admin are belatedly getting wise to. Sorry Phil, but that’s the truth of it. Feel free to take the necessary action if I’m wrong on this one.

Thanks Ryory. Correct, my partner is a carer. I work on the railways, have to do the occasional night shift. Phil, I’m just on a break at present so just scanning. I’ll re read the whole thread in the morning and if any of my responses are unnecessarily brief I’ll add the detail. Apologies for the inconvenience but the day (night) job is calling.

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 00:12 - Jun 4 by eireblue | On BLM, you characterised the people disagreeing with as having a meltdown. You thought that was an acceptable way to describe people that made valid points about racism and BLM “I’m sorry, sir, but I am not going to be apologising to you or anyone else for using the word ‘meltdown’. Good day.“ Your re-telling of the CV discussion is disingenuous. You didn’t quote Chris Whitty, and then apologise. You said things like “ There should be no restrictions on liberty whatsoever..” And “ As crude as this may sound I do not believe that a plus 80 person living another year or so is worth a year of a child’s education.” And then your apology was for for lack of eloquence only. “ I’d had a couple of beers last night and wasn’t quite as eloquent as I perhaps should have been and for that I apologise. My point hold though.” You then continued to talk about making bold decisions and taking risks. Not sure you once directly quoted Chris Whitty. |
I've not read that many head shots in such a short period of time since that Andy McNab book my auntie bought me one Christmas.

I don't know what he's said cos I can't see his posts! But I have just read back what I said and it wasn't that bad at all. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for not making more of an effort.

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 23:12 - Jun 3 by chrismakin | But creating a post advising of a player link isnt starting a rumour its relating info seen and if the player involved would be a good signing if such link was true. That is so different than myself creating a player link. Regarding joe.. I did say in that specific thread that it wasnt joe I didnt believe it was the source. Which surely anyone is in their rights to believe or not. That was not implying joe was lieing. So whilst I appreciate you open yourself up depending on what you post I dont see what harm either of the above does to welcome the directness from some posters. I saw posts for example this morning about a player link. No mention of where from just player name. Not 1 of you questioned the poster or moaned at his post. It had what was intended... a discussion on the player. |
There are two issues here. The first is that I have 2 jobs currently, one is in IT and the other is in Digital Entertainment. I have been going through the motions in the latter for getting a verified status - as such was in zoom calls with people from Burbank CA, as such - my TWTD time was not there until after work. The second thing is - the fact you posted powderpuff twitter sources in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing - but when you go around the houses trying to create a debate about something that is clearly non-credible, then pass judgement on other people's input (you quite literally just did it again in the post I am replying to now) - you're going to stand a chance of shouldering the ridicule that the 'news' source itself is being met with. I was direct because it was just another big old post auguring about nothing. We all like a good rumour and to get excited - but going to war over bull*hit tweets is no fun for anyone involved, including yourself. ============= Point of order - I apologise for what you were faced with yesterday. My comparison to 12th Man is not what anyone wants to hear. Though my intentions were making the comparison to the way he used to conduct himself on here, and I did crassly make the point that his past was not part of the comparison. Phil rightly removed that abrupt attack (of 12th Man) in my post, as he pointed out the people affected or close to those affected could indeed be part of this forum.

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 21:44 - Jun 3 by jeera | If I bother you that much you are free to do the same bud. If you bothered to read what I said you'd see there have been a number of posters complaining. Perhaps you'd like to pop them all a message individually with the same advice, or maybe it would be easier if just one person took it on board. What do you reckon? Maybe all 20 of them are wrong. CM has mentioned a couple of times in this thread that he has taken the comments of you and your 20 others on board and now posts a lot less transfer rumours so you have your way. If what he posts now still annoys you then yes leave him alone and pop him on ignore

This is the kind of low level comment that winds people up. It’s not bullying, but I just wonder what the point of it is. It’s like always looking for something to criticize the other person for when they are really only making an observation. There are a few on here that seem to need to do this, thus implying that they are in the right. Sometimes we all just need to let things go!

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 23:19 - Jun 3 by PhilTWTD | Once again, this looks like refusing to engage when challenged. |
Morning Phil. I’ve re read the thread and I can’t see any direct questions that I haven’t answered. If I’ve missed any (I have been up all night) please direct me to them and I’ll happily respond. I have identified a couple of points raised where I have been a little light on detail. I’ll address them below. I take your point regarding some of my Covid comments being unpleasant. I had apologised at the time and do so again. Regarding my BLM contributions I’ve re read the thread from a couple of days ago. My point was that I think the meaning of the taking the knee gesture has been diluted by its frequency and as such I was agreeing with the number of other posters who were stating that they felt it was time to move on and perhaps find another way of conveying the important message. I didn’t and don’t think this is a massively controversial opinion. I’ve taken the feedback from you and a couple of others on board and will try to more fully justify my positions in future. I recognise my habit of not fully justifying statements has clearly wound people up, this was not my intention, I sometimes just leave things when they are getting heavy. As you can see from this thread alone where people have claimed I am lying about my work situation, falsely claimed I have posted weird videos about Covid and someone even attempted a ‘mum joke’ at my expense if I have (unintentionally) wound people up then this is far from a one way street. I am going to revert to football threads only for a couple of weeks, which will hopefully cut down on the aggravation. When I return to general threads I will take your feedback regarding a need to justify points on board and will be intrigued to see if reactions from other posters change accordingly. Any further issues you feel I have failed to cover please ask. [Post edited 4 Jun 2021 8:43]

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 23:43 - Jun 3 by OriginalMarkyP | Goodness. I only wanted to suggest people just tried not to be quite as vitriolic to each other and appear to have unleashed a tsunami of he said she said. Pretty ironic the OP is getting more traffic than posts about our first signing of the summer that actually unites everyone in thinking Wes Burns is a good addition. [Post edited 3 Jun 2021 23:44]

A great signing, the type of player we have needed for a long time. The first of 10 new signings my spies tell me.

Last night I had a dream I was in Boots, the year was 1993 and out of nowhere the late, great folk singer Mick Softley appeared. Barefoot, bedraggled as usual, but in fine form. He shouted 'Careful with that axe Eugene' before departing the store. I watched as he mounted his bicycle outside before going on his merry way. I then bought some shampoo before the dream faded into nonsense.

Serious post. Bullying on this site. on 22:35 - Jun 3 by footers | It was your last word on it 45 minutes ago, sunshine. And FWIW I posted an emoji on that thread. That's it. So that's bullying now, is it? Seems an incredibly low benchmark and tbh I think you're just trying to make me out to be far worse than I am. But that's OK, people can make their own minds up. And yeah, maybe leave your 'interesting' politics opinions fot he next Con Club meet-up. |
As a dad to a son with autism, I do think you should be cutting posters a degree of slack if you know they have autism in advance. Or correct them kindly.
