Best sporting feat over the past 20 years 09:07 - Jun 7 with 4568 views | hype313 | Was chatting about this at the weekend, kinda whittled it down to 3 but happy to add others in if I have missed any glaring obvious ones. 2005 Ashes win Liverpool in Istanbul Miracle at Medinah Personally, that summer of the Ashes was just magnificent, having lived in Oz in the late 90's and was given pelters by the Aussies whilst I lived there about our abject team, that one resonated with me for a number of reasons.

Best sporting feat over the past 20 years on 11:15 - Jun 7 by Herbivore | Much as his record is insane it needs to be put in the context of clay being by far his favoured surface, whilst it is the weakest surface of his big rivals over that time. Still an amazing feat to sustain that level of dominance but I think that caveat is needed. Clay very much favours his game in a way that it doesn't favour the game of most of the other top players over the past 15 or so years. |
That's a fair point. Nadal is the virtually unchallenged King of Clay partly because the surface suits his relentless, heavy top-spin game. I would love to see a clay court game between Nadal & Borg, with both players at their peaks. At lease no-one seems to have mentioned Phil Taylor's 16 World Darts titles yet....

I had to Google him before I recognised who he was: 'As a young boy, he developed an acute fear of water and was averse to being put in the bath after his brothers told him that sharks may come up through the plughole.' https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Peaty

Best sporting feat over the past 20 years on 20:29 - Jun 7 with 408 views | judespiveyg | The New England Patriots winning 6 Super Bowls, and having 18 consecutive winning seasons in a league with a salary cap. Surprised to see lots of shouts for Murray tbh, exceptional Tennis player but two Wimbledon wins isn't nearly as impressive a sporting feat as Nadal winning 13 French Opens for example. I always feel British people are a bit fond of a plucky underdog as opposed to someone who actually wins. Lewis Hamilton is probably the most dominant British sportsman of the last decade but gets as much hate as he does admiration. Edit: For some reason I interpreted best as 'most impressive'. My point still stands I think, but I'll have to go for Lewis Hamilton winning the 2008 world championship on the last lap, with Leicester winning the league, Stokes and Leach's partnership, and Spain winning the Euro 2012 final 4-0 starting 6 centre mids, close runners up.
