Actually that was an error - The Athletic say it was worth £5m but not the period so may have been over longer

Reminds me of a quote by the Coca-Cola CEO when they changed the taste. Thousands upon thousands of complaints and petitions to reinstate the the original taste, there was even call centres set up for people to ring and register their disgust, and a huge media storm and PR frenzy. Upon reverting to back to the old taste, the CEO addressed the press and said 'for those of you that think Coca-Cola has just scored the biggest own goal of all time, we're not that stupid. This is incredible. How did this deal come about in the first place?
It will cost Norwich quite a whack of cash if the deal was completed.
I can't get my head around how football authorities and clubs in England campaign for all types of social justice causes yet take millions of pounds from betting firms. Gambling addiction is a major scourge in the land and leads to all manner of mental health issues.
In the 80s it was electronic companies, 90s beer, 2000s communications. All were ethically fine. Now the gambling companies have taken hold and I can't see football turning its back on them as there is too much money involved.
Also, who in the right mind ever thought it was a good idea to legalise online gambling. The companies have so much power and hold over Governments. We should revert to the days where you had to go down to the bookies to lay a bet. |

However with the current shirt deal, with Ed, it wouldn't surprise me if we get close to that figure, with the added shirt sales.

Inevitable - still lots of damage to their brand though that they even considered the agreement. Not to mention it has probably cost them a few million in breaking the contract and they will also end up with a sponsor that won’t pay as much. |
Don't worry about them - I'm sure they'll find another football club to sponsor, one less seedy and unknown. |  |

Maybe, I am not sure to be honest. Sounds feasible though.
It also would not surprise me if the Ed deal has a clause that he takes a small percentage from the shirt sales as well. As no doubt his branding will sell a huge amount more shirts that would have been the case. Or maybe the deal is just worth very little in terms of actual up front money, but the branding allows us more shirt sales so that's how we get the revenue, rather than directly from the sponsorship. | | | |
