I think you have to give the new owners the benefit of the doubt that they have got a long list of possible targets. If we can't get Harper, there will be another name slightly further down the list that we can go for and so on.
They obviously feel like they can get better players in than what we have so I'm not too concerned. Time will tell if that is true but from the way they have conducted themselves thus far I am willing to believe that they are considerably more competent than Evans.

Is the 500k a figure the club put on or what his agent demanded. I remember Wrights was a request. Altho 5mill in 2000 certainly was no small change compared to this situation.. Just seems a bit strange to sign a deal in december to be able to leave in 6 months time for just 500k....
Also any idea what is the compensation fee when offering a player under 24 a contract and they move on... [Post edited 12 Jun 2021 15:26]

Would have been a negotiation between the two but the club wouldn't have been negotiating from a position of power, as they weren't with Richard Wright. Club will get £500,000 - if that's the figure - that they wouldn't otherwise have got.
