Am I the only one thinking we should not... 14:01 - Jun 12 with 2713 views | OriginalMarkyP | ...let Dozzell go until we've completely signed the WBA midfielder? Makes me nervous letting him go and that move breaking down. Especially as we look considerably less likely to get Crooks with Derby in for him.

Am I the only one thinking we should not... on 14:13 - Jun 12 with 2023 views | MerseyBlue | I think you have to give the new owners the benefit of the doubt that they have got a long list of possible targets. If we can't get Harper, there will be another name slightly further down the list that we can go for and so on. They obviously feel like they can get better players in than what we have so I'm not too concerned. Time will tell if that is true but from the way they have conducted themselves thus far I am willing to believe that they are considerably more competent than Evans. P.S. bloody autocorrect. Buyout clauses are usually silly numbers.

Again shows for me a player more than happy to move on as soon as the seasons over. 500k.. laughable amount for a buyout clause.

Not really. If the club is faced with the prospect of a player leaving for a free, then they're forced to agree to a relatively low buy-out as a result. Same happened with Richard Wright 20 years ago.

There is no such thing a done deal until the selling club confirm it.

Is the 500k a figure the club put on or what his agent demanded. I remember Wrights was a request. Altho 5mill in 2000 certainly was no small change compared to this situation.. Just seems a bit strange to sign a deal in december to be able to leave in 6 months time for just 500k.... Also any idea what is the compensation fee when offering a player under 24 a contract and they move on... [Post edited 12 Jun 2021 15:26]

Obviously not. Because in that case he'd be here and the deal would be announced. If it's not announced and you've got him photographed with the shirt there is still an opportunity for the selling club to tear up the deal. The longer it drags on like this, the more opportunity for the deal to be off. I'm sure it's not. But my point is if he isn't announced yet, he's not an Ipswich player yet. Probably as it wont go down to well with the Brom fans and they want to announce someone positive to go with it.

Would have been a negotiation between the two but the club wouldn't have been negotiating from a position of power, as they weren't with Richard Wright. Club will get £500,000 - if that's the figure - that they wouldn't otherwise have got. I don't think there's a set figure, think that's negotiated then there's a tribunal if they can't agree.

Why don't you tell me? If the answer is 'Because WBA haven't signed it off yet' I would politely suggest that the the player isn't 'ours' yet. Enlighten me.

Phil said its agreed and sorted but out of protocol and courtesy both clubs agree a date and time to release the story

I don't buy that. If we signed a player we'd announce it. Ashton doesn't seem like a publicity shy guy. He's been brought here to transform the club and bring in better players. If he's got one in the bag he has no reason to sit on it. It's in his interest to announce it.

Its respect for the parent club. You always wait for go ahead before announcing.

Well, until I see it officially announced experience tells me not to count it. (Not the same circumstances, but remember a couple of weeks ago there were quite a few well-informed people saying Bradley was a done deal?)

And if I'm pointing out that it's different circumstances I clearly do think it's relevent. My point is that well-informed people can be told one thing and another alternative thing comes to pass.

Just to be clear, I really really hope we have him. But I think saying it's a done deal isn't 100% true and definite until it's announced. [Post edited 12 Jun 2021 15:50]
