Not really. If the club is faced with the prospect of a player leaving for a free, then they're forced to agree to a relatively low buy-out as a result. Same happened with Richard Wright 20 years ago. |
Any idea how much money was on the table previously for him? I expect quite a bit more. Evans' approach was presumably to get him to sign something and then look at it again in the Summer, i.e. had we gone up and we wanted to keep him, bump him up significantly and remove the clause. |  | | |
