Makes me nervous letting him go and that move breaking down. Especially as we look considerably less likely to get Crooks with Derby in for him.

We haven't completely signed Harper yet but then again we haven't sold Dozzell yet so I can't really see the problem. Maybe they are waiting until both deals are completed before announcing.

Not really. If the club is faced with the prospect of a player leaving for a free, then they're forced to agree to a relatively low buy-out as a result. Same happened with Richard Wright 20 years ago.


Any idea how much money was on the table previously for him? I expect quite a bit more. Evans' approach was presumably to get him to sign something and then look at it again in the Summer, i.e. had we gone up and we wanted to keep him, bump him up significantly and remove the clause.
