Just been looking at Watson's current summary of L1 INS and OUTS.

At a very quick count (loans included) L1 clubs for the coming season have signed 50 and discarded 216. Only 9 clubs have bought in more than our current two. Lots of ways of looking at that, but certainly our business is no more brisk nor sluggish than most.

Also, as most transactions are frees, those like ours which may involve substantial money for L1, are almost by definition going to take longer given that the Championship will be a live option for some of these.

However the cards eventually fall there are going to be a lot of unemployed footballers, with many taking a drop through the leagues to stay in the game.

We want quality though. We could've signed loads of freebies or cheap options by now but what would be the point.
