I was aware of the Twitter posts but hadn't seen them - there's a link to them in the Just Giving page. Profoundly depressing. It may be a futile gesture but it made me feel a little better to do SOMETHING to try and demonstrate that we're not all *rseholes

To show that we're not all a-holes probably. It's debatable whether it's the best way to show support, but everything seems to be geared around donation sites these days. I thoroughly support the sentiment though.

As for the examples you offer that doesn't make any sense. No one cares some kid was crying.
The issue is that some grown adults took to social media and portrayed her father as Jimmy Saville and called her, a small child, a c**t and a slut etc.
Do you have any family, any kiddies? Imagine some men referring to them as slags.

Seemingly so, which is why some people are embarrassed by it. But a surprisingly high number of people seem to not see too much of a problem in it.
The tweets are an absolute disgrace, Twitter at its absolute cesspit worst. But surely letting it disappear- as it would by now is probably the best thing that can happen? Rather than keep dragging it up

Well that will teach me to read the story properly. I didn’t read it properly and assumed it was because she was crying.

The guys good intentions though have probably made the situation worse, not sure what an appropriate response would have been other for social media to police this stuff better.
