Pre-season under Paul Cook.

Sounds, er, interesting.

Sounds odd as i've heard a lot of Paul Cook talking and having attention to detail, that sounds counterintuitive on that front, but do agree, when putting a team together, socialising and getting to know each other is a massive aspect.

We're seeing with the England team what unity and collectiveness can bring, you're on borrowed time in management, so you have to fast forward that somewhat, if it works fair enough.

How many of us turned up drunk for Sunday morning footy and then got injured? Alcohol does inhibit protein synthesis needed for recovery though, so I doubt the sports science department will support it openly lol!

Is he a bit salty as Cook sold him after one season? Bit of a hit piece? Surely a modern day football manager isn't treating pre season like club 18-30 booze holiday? But if it got results....

A bit of that is important, the difference is its cultivating that spirit and togetherness and rewarding success, and becomes viewed as such.

It's not getting p1ssed to drown their sorrows after a 4-1 defeat to Northampton.

Might just about get away with it in League Two but I don't believe it's a long-term success strategy.

Was drinking with some Chesterfield fans before the game on Wednesday, they absolutely adore Cook and say he is a real character.

A funny story of a game at Salford where Chesterfield had won and Cook was in a pub in Salford after the game before the away fans had made it!

Ah, no wonder Fatty Norbuckle likes him.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
