Bishop reminds me of Bowditch. Technically very good and with loads of potential. Just not effective enough on the pitch.
Didn't Bowditch make a decent career in the lower leagues with MK Dons or was it Wycombe or someone? I think they will be a good fit. Quite happy for Bishop to do even better but we can't keep giving him chances forever. |
Bowditch made a career with MK Dons, but it was nowhere near the career his potential hinted at in his teens. He played for England yoof teams and was outstanding. He just never kicked on, you use that awful phrase.
At Championship level, Bishop, though less gifted in my view, was a more effective player when he broke through. Injuries have wrecked his career. His appearance record was much improved last year and I hope he’s over his injury problems and takes his career forward now.
I confess I do look back on the Evans years rehab of injured players with an eyebrow raised. Given how everything else was stripped out at the club. I can’t imagine injured players got the best of treatment here. If that’s true (who knows, they may have got the best of care), how short sighted. |  |
