That thread shouldn't have been removed 09:39 - Jul 16 with 12396 viewsStokieBlue

I don't think that thread should have been removed.

Some people posted controversial views in there which were read by those concerned and are now not available to the greater community. People have left, some during the course of that thread and I don't think the posts should be stricken from the record like that.

A bit of a shame, I only read through and posted in it for the first time this morning. I felt it was an 'awkward' rather than outright unpleasant thread, and despite some predictable sniping from some corners of the room I actually thought there were some concilliatory posts from some people too and kind of hoped one or two were going to let a few differences lie off the back of it.

It does all seem very apt and very TWTD though.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

That would the same Herbs who wrote passionately to the club on the site's behalf.

Just saying people tend to have selective memories when they have it in for someone.

As did so many others that LON had to change or temporarily turn off his emails. Not saying it wasn't a nice gesture but it's hardly an answer to the criticism.

There was a lot yesterday that should not of happened, but I think there was also a fair bit of clarification on some issues where either side may have mistaken the other's intention.

The good news is that the WUMS on the board will out themselves on this thread, one of them already doing so in fact.

Quite. I don't recall Moose or Herbs wishing death on people just so they could have a pint indoors.

Still, we can't be offending right-wing sensibilities. That just wouldn't do.

I've no idea what criticism has been directed at him nor why tbh.

I was addressing the world in general but am disappointed to see anyone revelling in his absence.

All a bit confusing to me, as none of them are the most offensive people to have frequented the site. I've always found all 3 to be civil but that's my experience.

All most of them have ever done there is call it out when it's been on show, but each to their own.

All very spiteful indeed.

Care to explain the down vote Paz?

If I've misrepresented you then you should say so, correct me with evidence and ensure the board know you didn't post such a vile comment and that I am in the wrong here.

Understand Phil's pov, but this highlights issues with deleting rather than locking threads - Hydra ones can pop up instead, and the record of who said what is also deleted, which can cause problems either through genuinely poor memories, or disingenuous selective memories/hypocrisy (that's not a reference to yourself in any way, btw).

Unfortunately, some people hate being challenged on their opinions or just being forced to face problems in the world.

Gets them hyper-defensive and stressed. But frankly that’s their own problem they have to deal with.

I'm just not enjoying some of the negativity towards the three of them, but as you say I don't know the ins and outs of other personal relations.

There is on show even on this thread the usual cherry-picking; remarks about comments that were made on the other thread that ignore all elements of context completely and seem designed only to stir. Some people like a good old stir from the sidelines.

If stirring were outlawed, now then we'd see a lot of changes for the better.

I'm ok, bit irritated that Countdown was replaced today by some cars going around in circles.

The usual case of "mystery down voters" and victory lap finger pointing, with no context to the discussion.

Yet, Spruce, Footers and Herbivore are the problem...

Victory lap finger pointing? Ha. Have you seen the reactions of Herbivore/Spruce when they drive someone off the board? They weren't in the slightest bit bothered and usually happily justified it to themselves.

There's a massive bias here. Anything your mates do is absolutely fine. When it happens to you the blubbing starts.

Because I never meant that comment to be offensive and it certainly isn’t vile. I was offering a counter argument to a pro lockdown argument. There’s no point getting into it all again but to suggest I was ‘wishing death on people’ as someone above has suggested is quite frankly absurd.

Unsurprisingly this thread seems to be heading the way of the deleted one, though it actually has less of the niceties that one had.

Better get in quick kids, it won't be here for for long and poor old Phil will be seen as a tyrant again by somebody.

It's a direct consequence of your stance.

Just because your heroes swan around impervious to the consequences of their actions and statements doesn't mean TWTD should be your safe space.

You advocated actions that would result in certain deaths for some that are otherwise avoidable.

Still, you got your pint, so all's OK, eh?

J2 - I have been on this board about 10 years, you've been around a bit longer. You never liked the fact that quipped around with your avatar - when all it was in the day was actually myself appreciating another younger poster on here, someone I looked up to and respected.

The PM you talked about was genuine, and I shared what I was writing with the others behind closed doors as I wanted to make sure it read well. So when the same message from one of the other toward yourself (I'm not naming names as I actually forget who it was) - they were taking the piss out of me, and not yourself.

However, I ended up looking like the tit, and apparently still do. My niceness in PMs and on the board is always because I set off that bad first impression, with good intentions. However, the conjecture around it on your end is way off the mark.

I never did victory laps around Benters, Taxi or Pickles (infact, when they went I was on a sabatical). Though I do mention them routinely in these discussions as I am not hiding behind any bias and being upfront about it.

Victory lap finger-pointing was not aimed at you, only Paz - who routinely posts on here just to get a response.

I will live up to my mistakes and past indigretions on here publicly and DM - but Im not going to be falsely accused of what your saying without standing up for myself.

I challenge you to find any point in TWTD where I have been agressive with you, rather than trying to make amends for an incident that started out of nothing but respect from you and wanting to establish a bit of friendship over a decade ago.

In the context of the discussion we were having I think the meaning is fairly clear. In my opinion you are trying to rewrite the narrative.
