Anyhoooooooooo, the joys of being a parent part 256473738 11:37 - Jul 19 with 3335 viewsGlasgowBlue

So just after a traumatic few months getting little miss GB into a happy and positive place, I get a call late last night from 21 year old student, GB junior who had broken his leg playing football.

Not to worry I thought. We’ve all done it.

Anyway it turns out that he severed the bone completely and had something called compartment syndrome. All very nasty by all accounts. I’m just relieved to see him wheeled into his room with both legs intact,

He’s had s five hours in surgery and I’m sitting by his bedside whilst he’s doped up to the eyeballs.

Please send some board love to this junior blue.

He seems to have made a promising start if he wants to become an ITFC player.

Hopefully he gets well to make a cameo appearance soon as.

Lambert would have put him in next weeks match day squad.

The nurse says that he will always have a weakness in that leg so his hopes of playing for England are over.

Scotland, however, still remains an option.

Hope he is on the mend soon

I thought it sounded nasty from your opening post but that permanent weakness comment is even worse. I hope it turns out better than that, he should be young enough to effect a close to total recovery I hope. The human body can be amazing at self repair if given the time to do so and the understanding of when and how much of a test to be put to. Keep the physiotherapy in mind now and do all you can to stick with the same person for it is my recommendation.

Cheeky bügger! But we’ll welcome him with open arms.

Sorry to hear about that. I had compartment syndrome and it was excruciating – with a broken leg too he’ll be in for a tough recovery.

But very much on the plus side, he got the help he needed quickly. Compartment syndrome is what Damien Delaney had and could have died from if they hadn’t diagnosed and sorted it in time.

Best of luck to him with his recovery!

From memory, did Damian Delaney suffer something similar on the training ground, and it was only the quick thinking physio's that saved his career? That either happened or was a very vivid dream.

Ouch, compartment syndrome is really very serious, it's what Damien Delaney had when he was here. Hope he makes a swift and full recovery.

Delaney: Injury Could Have Ended My Career 9th Sep 2010 10:13
Centre-half Damien Delaney has admitted he was concerned about his footballing future after suffering his horror thigh injury in the summer. The Irish international played his first game since suffering the problem as the reserves lost 2-0 to Oxford United at Portman Road yesterday. 14

Think it is quite a smart move on Glassers' part to stay quiet on the playing for England ambition, the staff at the Royal Infirmary might have gone and broken the other leg...
