Walks... 18:57 - Jul 19 with 1393 views | chrismakin | Is there anything better than a walk in the sun along a canal? A really nice 30 minute walk home. Whilst sweating enough to sell my own water bottles I must add, but it was such a nice walk to do. Some people fishing and happy to say hello, boats going past, flowers to enjoy. Dog walkers and cyclists just enjoying the route aswell. Something so small to some no doubt, but really missed that ( haven't done it for about 2 years )

Can be great people watching of course but really just the feeling of utter insignificance amongst all that energy. I’m definitely retiring somewhere along the Atlantic coastline.

Atlantic coast line it is, 4500ft above the sea on the south coast of Madeira, I sat with the wife & Hugo our dog in 30deg sunshine, under the shade of a huge pine tree, a levada (water transport canal) watching the world go by, 6 x humans & 20 cows in 4.5 hrs. Perfect!

Sounds amazing. Had that sort of chat with the wife and we agreed we would move somewhere where our garden leads down to either a canal or river or something just being near water would do me. Find it quite relaxing.

Had a walk along the nudist beach at Corton Sunday morning, then back through the woods. Some interesting views.

Walks... on 09:17 - Jul 20 with 964 views | Wallingford_Boy | I prefer the natural beauty of a river walk to a canal, but then I can't say I've ever really walked along a canal. But yes, something about water, just so soothing. Being by the sea is lovely too, maybe not the same calmness, but tbh if you are out with nature on a lovely day, nothing much can top that.

seconded Had a hour walk along the beach, mostly paddling through the sea, watching the spaniels have a good swim they are cooled down and fast asleep

Nah, it's fine. Just need to be selective on time. There was one bloke on a boat around at 20 past 6 this morning. Far too much litter left around though but still a nice walk.

The litter is horrendous as it can be a peaceful walk consider the location. I do enjoy sunny peaceful mornings.

Nudity is optional. Saw a nuthatch on the way back, through the woods, but no tits.

Great tits, in the context of birds, are a truly magnificent sight.

Did they see you, or didn't you disturb them? Were you using binoculars, watching from a distance?

Didn't need binoculars, and decided best not to disturb, didn't want to deal with an angry shag [Post edited 20 Jul 2021 9:51]
