Bishop to lincoln on 11:59 - Jul 21 with 1565 views | Keaneish | Ironic that his best brief spell under Cook was the first 20 minutes or so against Lincoln where he looked like his old self. With the Crooks deal seemingly off, i half expected Bishop to be called back in from the cold but that ship probably sailed with lots of offers on the table and his Twitter post. This has all the hallmarks of coming back to bite us this season...

Where does he play? Certainly not in the 2 in midfield and his output in the 10 isn't proven enough. You look at Fraser, 30 goals and 27 assists in 3 seasons in comparison.

When on it he was great to watch, especially considering his age. But you're right, the lack of goals and assists ultimately has to go against him.

Fraser isn’t going to play 50 games though and with no Crooks or Parrott, we will not have one option in the number 10 role. Happy for him to seek another opportunity but then again also happy if he stayed and competed. It’s my least favourite deal of the summer to date. [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 13:15]

i'd have liked to have kept him, but we've signed better replacements, which isn't the case for the other 4... (posibly nolan exempted)

In terms of roles in the squad, it's more sell Dozzell, Bishop and (presumably) Downes, replace with Evans, Harper and Fraser, really.

Sticking him in the bomb squad when the highly limited Donacien and Nolan are retained along with similarly injury stricken Nolan and the will-this-do approach to professionalism of Norwood is seemingly rewarded with the cpatain's armband is bt of an odd one. The issue for Bishop has never been his attitude, I could understand if here was was a 'we'd like to see if he can stay fit' approach to him, but this seems like a bit 'baby and bathwater'. There's nothing to lose by keeping him on for another season to see if he can truly push on. [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 14:29]

I think it's easy to get emotionally involved with this one, I mean, it's Teddy Bishop. I really like him, and was initially gutted he was being bombed, but, in the cold light of day, how good is he? Last season he seemed to recapture some form, scoring a few goals and looking the part, gliding past players.......but they stopped. I feel your pain, but I also think it's for the best.

He's been fit for 80% of our league games going back to January 2020. Surely at this point we're well out of "if he can stay fit" territory and into just evaluating what he's done whilst he's been fit to play?

Bishop to lincoln on 14:42 - Jul 21 with 1124 views | timothyeo | Great. Was kind of hoping the lack of noise meant he might be staying. Same with Gibbs, where i'd managed to re-convince myself he wouldn't be signing for them lot. Not happy with either, but there we go. Hopefully it'll all be proven to be the correct decisions.

I'd prefer to see Dobra play 10 in the Milky Rumbelows Poxy Johns type cup games.

In all fairness, he's hardly alone in the 'did nothing' stakes there is he? At that point he was playing in a utterly dysfunctional team who's spirit and cohesion had been utterly destroyed by an incompetent who was two years too long in a job. And again, considerably more limited players or players with far worse attitudes than him are still in the circle. This is a guy who was once in tears coming off the pitch after breaking down with an injury. Attitude is certainly not an issue and he's hardly had the best platform to show off anything else.

Certainly fair to say that no-one had much chance to shine in last year's run-in! I think it would definitely have been interesting to see how Bishop got on with a Cook pre-season and a more functional team to play in. Has he done enough over the past 18 months to be a "must keep" if the manager has decided he doesn't know where to put him or doesn't fit the group he wants to put together? I'm not sure he has really. The ones still in the circle is a bit of a red herring for me. If Holy, Donacien, Nolan and Norwood are still here at the end of the transfer window, it'll be about circumstances rather than quality relative to Bishop. [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 15:37]

To me it looked like Cook spent quite a good chunk of time at the back end of last season trying Bishop in various positions trying to work out where he could do a job for us. I got the sense that he wanted to find a home for him, but ultimately he didn't/couldn't. Its a pity, but Bishop can't really feel hard done by.
Bishop to lincoln on 15:45 - Jul 21 with 972 views | Churchman | I’m sad to see him go. He’s one I’d have kept as he’s good enough to play at this level. Is this just sentiment on my part? I don’t know. What is certain is that his fitness record is appalling and at 25 I’d be surprised if that improved. I’d also say that he’s a shadow of the player he was when he broke into the team. Maybe a move will re-ignite his career and be best for all concerned. It’s a real shame, but there it is.

It is a real shame. but flipping it, what would people think if we were looking to buy a 25 year old AMF with his injury and goals/assists record. Best gone.

He seems to have sorted out his fitness issues - he was barely fit for 3 years but the last 18 months or so the only time he missed through injury, the only time this season was a result of two awful tackles in the same game.
