I never knew whether it was good that some of the views he expressed got discussed or alarming that people just double down on them no matter how much they get debunked.

I think the accumulation of frustration that paz's relentless disingenuousness & provocation, in essence supporting racists, was producing across the board was quite damaging to the site. In the end Phil simply listened to many regulars who kept coming across & having to put up with that more often than he (Phil) did himself.

Seems to me that banning him has taken the valve off the pressure cooker - steam was vent, and consequently the forum's been a more relaxed & pleasant place since.
