Or alternatively they paid £750K for him as a promising 21 year old. He is now a slightly more experienced and developed 23 year old and they feel the interest in him from a number of clubs means they can get more for him than they paid.

Why would we be in for a player that has had bids of 750k turned down if we are not prepared to pay 1million.

Derby were awful last season with him in defence, conceded loads.
Rangers don’t rate him at all and they play in Scotland!

Completely agree with you re Crooks. No argument over that.
But we're short in the central defence. Nsiala won't be able to carry us over the 46 games so he needs a help. And let's be honest given how awful Woolfenden was last season that any CB's addition must be better than him.
