What a bloody difference it makes having football people running the club 17:26 - Jul 26 with 5150 viewsBluearmy71

So bloody grateful to gamechanger etc etc for the new ownership and bringing in people who know how to run the club and to Ashton Et Al thank you for running this club the way a club like Ipswich deserves to be run!

I know lots of Town fans will agree the hope we know have for this coming season is a feeling of how we have not experienced for so long, I think it a case before now of saying we had new hope for the start of every previous new season the difference now being we actually believe we have it, the new owners and staff truly making us believe again, thank you!!

So buzzing for this season to start!!

I don’t agree, there is clearly a structure and plan going on with our recruitment which is refreshing. Previously we would chase our target for months until the window nearly closed only to miss out and end up with a loan, we seem to get it done or move on now, and we seem to be getting in players with re sale value and potential to improve to a higher level.

Not sure there is a lot of re-sale value in what we have brought, they are all mid 20’s solid good pros who can operate at the lower half of the championship. It’s telling that they have got 3 year contracts that tells me they are here to get us out of this league this season and get us stable in the Championship before we look to improve on those players to get us into the top half and into play off contenders and above.

All true, and like everyone on here i am hugely optimistic. But let's not start lauding gamechanger as geniuses until they've achieved something. The structure is great but it must be coming at a cost. We know ashton's wages were high even for the championship for example.

I'm blown away by everyone that kept paying for their season tickets when it was obvious there weren't going to be any fans at the ground. Well done.

Having no structure and hoping for the best cost us even more. As Evans stripped out the club we were getting weaker and heading for League Two. Lee, Dyer, Chambers and others told us all we needed to know about where the club was at, internally.

GC are not geniuses. They are doing obvious, basic things like putting foundations in. The complete opposite to slippery Evans. Without those building blocks you get nowhere. Anyone whose worked anywhere, or for themselves, knows that.

Yes it’s costing a lot of money, including Ashton, but it’s the best way. Expertise within structure. As for making a profit, that’ll come with the PL and only then if it’s done right.

Gamechanger have actually achieved a remarkable amount in a very short time and success on the field will come. It’s what we want and they’re here for.

I miss the good old days of winter 2020 tbh - creeping about with banners & flares and planning team bus ambushes.

Hoping the new owners start asset stripping soon so we can get back to that.

Perhaps not room for exponential growth in value but as a minimum players that will retain their value. I'd argue Harper/Edmundson are the types that could go on to be worth several multiples more than we've paid though.

Agreed about Harper I very nearly said that! However still think this squad is to get us out of this league and stable in L1 then will be “refreshed” to push on from there.

To think there were people who wanted Evans to stay just in case the new owners were bad. I think Evans has been exposed even more since the new owners came in for what an utter shambles his time as owner really was.

Hopefully everyone now sees sense.

Remember when the likes of you and I said “Evans must sell” and TWTD was like, to who nobody wants us Evans will never sell you buy it then if you’re so clever? Right again my brother.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Makes no sense

Dont support the club financially. Then moan about lack of investment.

Whilst M.E doesnt have the money to make us a prem team he is financially sound for this league and lower championship. Support and get back to championship rather than all this M.E out bol ox.

Some owners barely have interest in their clubs. M.e alone has kept us solvent and in the past 18 months has ploughed in so much money to keep it running. Some owners may have thought sod it. Fold it. Which a new owner possibly might. Hes already said in the past.. 2 offers he turned down they went to two clubs. Both clubs they left after 2/3 years leaving them rotten.
This is what happens when the fans demand to much in a modern football landscape that has changed since we were successful. It's a money rich requirement yet people weren't happy with midtable championship under Mick

So keep protesting. Just hope you all bookmark your posts and desires when a new owner takes over and we end up like Bury ( I.e fked) all because we once were successful over 20 years ago.

Ward would have had a contract extension

And Lambert would quite possibly be still in charge.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Is it as refreshing as the way we got our club back when PRP came along or is it closer to the enormous changes under the messiah Hurst? Is it similar to finally getting rid of Milne and letting LO'N take over or is it like when we got more business like when we got rid of Clegg? Or......could it be just yet another happy clappy hyberbole when despite how good it looks on paper we should wait and see?

What a misery, allow people to get a bit moist at least, we have done the best business in league 1 by far, without going scary crazy on fees, wages, actually getting people in the door early without endless haggling over pennies only to lose out.

I think if GC hadn’t come in we would be flirting with the drop this season.

The only Muff in Town.

Lol of course we wouldn't. Shambert would still be gone (arguably sooner) and we'd still have one of the biggest budgets in the league by a distance. The new set up is. ABig positive but we seem to be prematurely celebrating yet again

I'm pleased with what they have done. I think the roles at the club in the background which many of us didn't really know a lot about have been sorted.

I'm going to be honest, my knowledge of these players coming in is limited and so i'm just staying mildly optimistic.

I don't think many were against new owners (in fact we were desperate for it) but people like myself were saying he can't sell if no-one is interested in it....which is true. People were calling for him to sell for years.

We will never know of course, but Cook was struggling with this squad and would you have trusted ME to sanction or oversee a rebuild ? Even if he had the same ineffective recruitment system was still in place, we would have further declined from 9th to the lower half I would say.

Plenty thought we were too big to get relegated from the champ.
