Tomas Holy last 2 seasons..... 14:54 - Jul 28 with 5871 viewsitfcjoe

57 League 1 games
25 Clean sheets

And after a dodgy performance in a friendly, some people seem to think he isn't good enough to be a sub keeper at this level....

Madness, much bigger priorities to sort than adding 2 deal to Ashton's workload

Hladky the clear number 1

Agree but trouble is, you're talking to the people who wanted Cornell as captain for saving one penality.

There is a section of the fan base who cannot process anything other than the last game.

Truly impaired.

The other thing to be aware of, which I don't think anyone else has mentioned, is that we now have two Czech Goalkeepers training together. It may only be a small thing, but it might help Hladky settle and feel more at home at Ipswich.

I don’t rate him at all. Clean sheets are easier to come by for a side that by and large lacked any attacking intent and rarely entered the opposition box. I try not to be too critical of individuals but he really is poor goalkeeper for me. Kicking is poor, decision making poor, slow to get down, don’t think he’s a great shot stopper either. Looks every bit the keeper that shipped 70 goals for Gillingham before he moved here, and had there been any suitors this summer willing to pay his wages I dare say he would’ve moved on. That tells you something.

Should be ok for people to question it.

Yesturday you said Toto isnt good enough for us if we are to progress. He was part of a solid defence last season......

I'd prefer to another no.2 but I'm not fussed if he stays either. But people are old to question it

Lol how many howlers does this guy have to make before people realise he ain't good enough - even as a backup. If Hladky gets injured (god forbid) then I seriously worry whenever Holy is in goal. Would rather we kept Cornell as backup.

Very clever pedantic-ism - he won't be in our team much this season

More than good enough as back up. But no longer the number one!

To be fair, if I was a first choice goalkeeper and I saw my competition play like last night, that would certainly help boost my confidence!

Has he had a lot of "howlers" in the league? Can't recall one that cost us points last year. Maybe one goal in the game at Doncaster we were getting battered in anyway?

Maybe not "howlers" per sé, but plenty of goals where you'd expect him or a keeper to do better. I think his command of the area is poor, his use of his height is disappointing, decision making is poor and getting down to shots is slow.

Personally wouldn't be sad to see him go. Never thought a lot of him or Cornell, the first time in many years where we've been weak and unconvincing in the keeper department. But I guess that's partly the problem of being in the third tier.

Imagine the overreaction when Hladcky makes an error...

Holy's good enough to be starting keeper for half the sides in this league, more than fine to be our backup and only play a few games as and when needed. Totally agree with Joe's initial post

I disagree.

The Millwall game should be played as if it were a league game. A dress rehearsal for what is to follow.

The first part of your statement is true. I don't translate it to the second part.

Because all keepers make mistakes, why should we accept a keeper who gives away 2 poor goals and a howler all in one match? If it was one poor game and he never has a poor one again all season then great. However, I think the only way he doesn't have another poor one this season is if he remains on the bench.
