Key takeaway from me.... on 14:39 - Jul 30 by Guthrum

Clough and Taylor was a different era. The Manager's remit was wider in terms of running more of the admin side of the club and staffs were a lot smaller. Would a raft of more specialist coaches not be as effective for tactical (and player) development as a single individual? Several brains applied to the task, rather than just two?

You are right. Clough and Taylor were of a different era. But even within that area, Robson operated equally successfully with different assistants. Ferguson did too. It just depends on the nature of the manager and what he wants.

With regard to the Academy, Dyer pointed out that we weren’t producing the quality players of old and noted that Wickham was the last player to go for any sort of fee 10 years ago. Is this because of lack of Cat One, a shambles of a football club, rubbish scouting, jobs for the boys coaches (Alan Lee’s comments), a combination? I don’t know, but these are the questions the club needs to ask itself.

There’s no point in wasting time on something that produces little output, but I hope as the club grows, resources go into this to bring it back to life/improve it.

I've always been on board with the new regime - it's exactly what was needed and whilst I won't agree with every decision I know as a club we are in a better place and moving forwards.

I've always quite liked Cook since he came in last year - just felt he did a pretty rubbish job with what was available at the back end of last season. I think we've gone a little too far with some of our sales/bomb squad but got little doubt with what we are spending and the quality we've been able to attract he'll turn us into a very good side this year and hopefully get us up. If that happens everything is judged to be a success that has happened this summer/last season - if he screws up then the opposite!

I'll stick by my convictions on mistakes that were made in my view, but the bigger picture is that had we scraped into the play offs last year then ME may have clung on and there would be no GameChanger/Ashton which would see the club in a worse place than it currently is.

Should have clarified by 'new regime' I meant Cook and co rather than Game Changer.

Agree that in an odd way we are better off having slumped at the end of the season.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
