You can certainly see how it mounts up with someone like Ben Stokes. Constant attention and expectation heaped on him, especially after WC final and Headingly Ashes test, then the loss of his father and a string of -at best- niggling injuries. And that's just the stuff we know about. Hope he takes all the time and gets all the support he needs. I have thought for some time that too much is being put upon his shoulders in terms of having to dig England out of a hole with bat and ball. In India he seemed to be bowling way beyond the point of exhaustion and in pain. Almost more surprised he's stuck it out this long. |  |
