Good turnout Sir Bobby Robson Suite, best for a few years. At the top table, PLC board members Roger Finbow, Liz Edwards, Peter Over and Mark Andrews, plus Paul Cook, Mark Ashton, Mike O'Leary and Lee O'Neill. David Sheepshanks also in.

New award to be instigated in PHC's honour at the end of the season to the player who has best contributed to the local community, was something he felt was important for the club.

Mark Ashton introducing himself, thanking for warm welcome, has been fantastic. Says he told a national newspaper that who interviewed him today.

What a club, what an opportunity, what a prospect. Excited but anxious about the first day of the season.

Going through his history, started as not very good goalkeeper at West Brom, then on into management.

Adked about his thoughts on Town, says he always had fondness for club, despite cup semi-finals. Club he always wanted to do well, was surprised and saddened that the club with its history dropped into League One.

But L1 is where we are, our job is to get out of the division as quickly as we can.

We are only custodians, club belongs to its community. I passionately believe that. Reiterates what he said on Thursday:

Ashton: We Will Only Sign Players and Staff Who are Absolutely Committed 30th Jul 2021 12:22
CEO Mark Ashton says the Blues have only signed players who are totally committed to Town and has stressed the importance of the club’s role in the community. 20

Wants to build the club back to the Premier League. Community side v important, not players just turning up for a photo, but we need to bed ourselves into the local community.

Common language we all speak is football and in this county it's Ipswich Town. Together we can build soemthing special. Can promised hard work, loyalty to get this club back to where it belongs.

Told players to have respect for club's past, but this is their time, their opportunity. They, we have the opportunity to change people's lives in the community. Understand what clubs mean to their community.

Easy to say all about results on pitch, but club is about more about that.

US investors wish they could be here, but will be here soon. They are desperate. Looking forward to doing very best we can for you. Applause.

First question: Not going to be most popular team, all financial checks being done, clubs will be out to get us.

MOL: Great start to the evening! Process of acquisition, 14 months. Few occasions in Zoom meetings when comment was made about box files which sit behind him. We know our business, we are compliant with everything we need to be compliant with.

Budget in place for first few years, budgeted to be competitive in teh division we're in. If go up will revisit that because requirements, model and FFP different. Have to make sure we take advantage of opportunities but not transgress.

Have sat on boards of public companies for most of life and never had a problem.

Academy lifeblodd of the club, go to cat one better standard for players, do you plan to do that at some point? Similarly, Terry Butcher bleeds Ipswich Town, contract wasn't renewed, what reason? And will Mark Ashton be changing his name to Mark Portman having left Ashton Gate?

MA: Cat one, disagree with comment. Record at BCFC, nine first-team debuts last season, £Ms of players sold. About developing players as quickly as possible for the first team.

EPPP has its place. Talked to Lee about this, coaching led, will be coaching and recruitment led. Getting players from elsewhere. About making sure players are ready for first-team. Big difference between academy and first team.

Terry, simply not a slot for him. Kieron in U23s role and we have criteria for cat two system.

Talking to Terry about what he might do on community and commercial side.

LON: Important to raise standard, lot of players involved in first team. Need players to come in and make first-team better to get us out of the league.

EPPP under review. We will look at the situation as it is. Important to develop next generation.

Chemistry between MA and PC, work ethic after months and years we've lived though. Thoughts on extending culture of Ipswich on ground throughout East Anglia.

MA: We want to get through to end of August and end of window, admits other areas are being overlooked. Look at how we want to run business. Four pillars going forward: Football, all the ingredients go into first team winning on Saturday. Commercial, revenue is vital. Operations, knows we've got to spend on Portman Road. Fourth, community. That wraps round everything we do.

I will be repetitive, community, community, community. Learning about the club, old trust closed, new trust. CLubs I've been at before have big community trusts to engage and motivate community. The more we do, the wider we can go. Got to take clubinto new areas, including those where other clubs are currently working.

Possible to repeat the success of 1960s and 1970s!

PC: Historically, famous, talked about ground. One of the big things in football these days is with Sky coming into the game and TV money. Reality is each division is a big obstacle. For us, we've got to have the ambition, got to believe we can get back to the top division. Got to be promoted this year.

Going up, budget has to change, money in Championship frightening. Premier League, Grealish £100m, if someone had said there'd be a £100m football in 1984 would be amazed. But we want to be in that division.

Community grows with the football club. My job is to deliver that in League One this year and in CHampionship next.

MOL: Keen to build with solid base, one step at a time. Massive gap between divisions. Asking a bit much to ask to jump from division to division to division but no reason not to try. Patience. Step at the time, taking it forward the right way. Aspirations which take us too far too soon can cause problems. Sustainability important.

Away match ticketing, no notice of ticket allocation for Burton, should we get used to later announcements?

MA: I think in general everything's a bit slower this year as we're coming out of the pandemic. Waiting for the EFL on a number of matters. But will make sure message gets round to get things out earlier. Communications department is currently under restructuring.

Questioner: No priority system for away tickets.

MOL: CEO only just come in, not au fait with all details having been signing a player every couple of days!

The ground will take 18 months to get sorted. PA system among that?

MA: Yes, yes and yes!

MOL: Some areas where deafened, some nothing at all. Will almost have to start again with Tannoy.

Asked can make sure we bat Norwich next time we play them!

Question re creative season ticket pricing, FFP.

MA: Outlines FFP in League One and Championship. Revenue is key. Will look at inventory, everything, how we sell it, how we sell it together, how we tier it, particularly across digital platforms. All will be reviewed. Can't promised prices will go up or down. Wants review done by Christmas, will look at everything.

Question re stadium, areas tired. In position to give idea of areas you'll be concentrating on in 18 months?

MOL: Loads. Seats with rust on them, the pitch, bars and how to relieve pressure s you can get a drink, all sorts of things. Lighting. Areas where bulbs haven't been changed. List stretches almost the length of the room. Review it twice a week. Keep a watch on what's been undertaken.

Challenge in recent weeks to get seats so you can sit on them. 30,000 seats have been cleaned three times, just to get to acceptable level.

Have to be 500 items on the list we've got to address. Some have been easy, hiring kestrel to chase off seagulls!

Question from Wolfe Powell, used to work at academy in education, community at Playford Road, senior players and young players mixed a lot under previous managers, not the last one. What's PC's view?

PC: Difficulties in the last 18 months due to Covid. Thinks it's sad players aren't available to community. Going forward, wants to see Playford Road open to people, younger players be able to see senior players and aspire to be like them. Once Covid out the way, supporters welcomed along to Playford Road and interact with players. Don't know why that doesn't happen.

At the minute though Covid young and first-team players have different training times. Going forward wants healthy environment for all young players, young lads training above them even for a few days.

Older fans know it's not going to be easy. Team needs fans to get behind the team this year.

PC: Fantastic comment. Refers to bit about negativity from Thursday here:

Ashton: There Feels a Distance Between the Fans and the Club 29th Jul 2021 21:30
Blues CEO Mark Ashton feels there is a distance between supporters and the club and that's partly why events such as tonight’s Fans’ Forum in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite have been instigated. Ashton was answering questions from fans along with manager Paul Cook and chairman Mike O’Leary. 40

For the 90 minutes, everyone gets total support. Teams will come and make it tough for us. We're going to need the support, not supporters get agitated. Don't half need you that's for sure.

How many times do different people want to ask the same questions about the stadium

I think the seagulls took over PR whilst we weren’t there, been a lot flying about during the last two games even coming into the stands. Start shooting them.

Managers promising attacking football but brought passing on own half of field. Will players get boll0cking if they do that.

PC: Nowadays you can watch so many games. In boxing, styles make fights. WHen teams come and defend it can frustrating. We want to engage in open match with every team, we want to press every team. But we can't do that if the other team don't.

At times we'll have to be patient. Truth is, we want to play attacking football, but teams will park the bus. Best way to beat a team that's parking the bus is diag for big striker to a little man. Got to be adaptable. Not going to bore the life out of you!

Part of culture to play attacking football, but got to find a way of breaking down defensive line.

PC: My view of watching football is give your flair players the ball and let them do their stuff. Town have had great flair players over years, perhaps not recently. But the players we've brought in, we hope that will change.

Women's team.

MA: Come from club where women's team has done well. Playing at top level a challenge. Women's team will develop along with the football club.

Won't play on main pitch this year due to pitch being not great, but women's side important, linked with community and elite side. Has to be sustainable. Doesn't work if you just throw money at any team.

Refers back to earlier comment about spending not making club popular, says we've brought in good money this summer, have budget for men's team, budget for women's and build.

Have Robins TV type channel as did at BCFC? Any news on iFollow this year?

MA: Waiting for comfirmation from EFL re iFollow about Saturday games. UEFA rule lifted during pandemic. Will hear before the weekend.

Robins TV, worked really well, great way of communication, look inside the workings of the club on a matchday, with squad and staff at the training ground. Have invested in drones. Want to put big screen in stadium. Will have to knock walls down when pitch is replaced, next summer. Robins TV style show will be on that.

Microphone handed to David Sheepshanks, who welcomes new staff and manager, second Liverpudlian manager in 20 years. Quotes Joe Royle: If Finidi George is 30 then I'm 10st!

Gives a 'sh1t's' tie - Shareholders of Ipswich Town.

DS: Had meeting with MA, faith restored. Not going to say too much about past. First three years a lot of money spent, last 10 in doldrums, that's why we are where we are. Got to cut these guys slack.

Goes back to 1995, relegated, no money, gate went down to 7,000 in first season. We had to restore with fans' support. Listening to tales of woe of underinvestment. Asked John Kerridge [board member at the time] what he would do, said "Bring loving feeling back to the club". New owners can do that. We need a beating heart again, and I think we've got one. In fact we've got several.

But we're a division below where we were in 1995. Massive job. What's so clear tonight is your four pillars. Everyone can get their minds around that. I'm coming Saturday, looking forward to it, looking forward to a full stadium. Want it to be a happy place again.

I think we've got a leadership team here we can really believe in. Can't wait for Saturday, whatever the score let's get behind this team, week-in, week-out, and we'll get our club back. Warm applause.

RF: Thanks David, seems a good point to draw meeting to a close.
