People ask why some Managers hate press conferences on 12:14 - Aug 13 by textbackup | so you already knew the answer? |
I know what I think, not what PC thinks, that was why I asked. It's his preregative if he doesn't want to get into making a comparison like that. Not as if he's been backwards in being critical of last year's team at times. Wasn't a major point, just something I asked in relation to positives from Saturday.

People ask why some Managers hate press conferences on 12:19 - Aug 13 by chrismakin | I get it, but we've already heard how important character is, we know what he thinks of the previous players, and he's always saying don't look back etc, I just think it goes against what's being asked of the media personally. |
This is probably a good time to reflect and realise that you think very differently to a lot of people who support the town. A great time to consider not going 'Full Frimley' and reading the room a bit.

Well you could always go to journo school, get accredited, get your attendance accepted by ITFC, ask your own questions & then write your own pieces y'know.

Positivity, looking forward. Not looking back Don't know how many times he needs to make the point about not looking back, no one listens to him.

Thought it was a positive point; this year's squad showing resilience and character last year's didn't

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but isn’t part of Phil’s remit as a journalist is to ask questions whether they are on the party line or not? I would have thought that most users on this site would much prefer Phil to ask a meaningful question rather than putting a batch of questions to Cook that basically kisses his backside.

People ask why some Managers hate press conferences on 12:21 - Aug 13 by GlasgowBlue | Gillingham (I think) being a prime example. Went one down, got back to 1-1 and went on to lose 3-1. |
There was something Jason Dozzell said when I interviewed him the other week: "If they went behind they knew they weren’t coming back because of the lack of goals. “I think it was mentally a tough challenge for all of them in the last few years, and also for the fans."

It is positive? Saying that we are showing better character already, only one game in. For those of us that have been reading this site for years it’s reads pretty standard.

Why does it have to be about kissing his backside. We've got youngsters in the side, new signings, new everything but the question we all want to know is what would last years team have done.......

People ask why some Managers hate press conferences on 12:35 - Aug 13 with 961 views | BlueySwede | I think you should be able to ask what you want as a journalist. However, I must say that it must be a very hard question to answer, and also very hypothetical. I guess he doesn´t want to talk any more about the team he inherited last season, given what has happened I think it´s clear enough what he thought about it.

But it’s a key crux of Cook’s management isn’t it? Why make all the changes if he cannot see the difference between last year’s side and this year’s side and what he wants to instil in them. Cook doesn’t have to answer the question directly, he has freedom of speech. He can still say he doesn’t want to look back but look forward then lead into being pleased with the mentality, the strength of character and that the substitutions worked to give us fresh impetus.

"Of course as a Journo, entirely your choice what you ask and it's not for me to tell you not to obviously" And yet here you are REPEATEDLY telling a professional journalist how to do his job and what questions shouldn't be asked.

But obviously dissatisfied with ITFC related content as discussed by others - apparently now also including that of the pro journalist who owns and runs this (free) site. Maybe apologising to him would be a better option than keeping on digging. Just a suggestion.
