Don't think that's fair.

Chris is entitled to his opinion, no problem but the reasoning is shocking. This seems to be

1. The question was negative, when it wasn't it was clearly and opportunity to big up the new lads. Phil has explained that, yet CM continues to double down.

2. That it's not in line with what locac press are being asked to do, the press are not a mouthpiece for the club, this isn't the online edition of pravda, its not the press Job to blindly do as they are told and so far as I can tell the press haven't been asked to tow a line anyway.

3. CMs then, in telling a qualified journalist how to do his job offered a version I which he used more words to ask the same question, I'm not sure it makes a huge difference how it's asked but in doing so it undermines Makins point in the 1st place and actually post match journos are trying to be concise so that they can meet their deadlines and out of professional courtesy to the manager who no doubt as much on their mind post match.

I've defended Chris, I've reached out to him privately when there have been pile ons and I agree there have been in the past but this isn't one.

All that's happened here is a poster has made a post which they have then undermi Ed whilst still arguing the toss about it which is rather bafoonish and you can't blame.e anyone for calling that out

It doesn't really need loads of people all saying the same thing though does it?

It wouldn't have had if he didn't double, then triple down, and repeatedly tell Phil he was wrong despite an explanation of the question, and then follow up with son weird orwellian nonsense about how the media should be behaving in press conferences.

The bloke really needs to step back a bit sometimes. The op was no drama and following Phils response was even quite funny. But it has become a monster thread because of cm.

You have indeed reached out in the past which was great

I do however disagree here.

I've not told Phil 'HOW' to do his job. I didn't like a question that was asked and didn't agree with the way it was asked. I did however understand why Phil asked it the way he did, however I still don't agree with the way it was done, my example showed how it could have been done to have the same effect without the need to dive back to last season which, was was the reason for the title of the thread - why managers etc hate press conferences, when he spends every week saying he won't look back etc.

Anyways, we have a game to win today and a matchday breakfast, lunch and spotify list to go through before we all cheer the town on. So lets get cheering :)

Yoy have fallen into the bluefish trap of overestimating the value of your opinions and posts.
Phil is widely respected for what he does. You really aren't.

How do you feel about the use of closed or open ended questions at press events?

50p says chrismakin wouldn't have backed down half as quick if it was.

It's not exactly a crazy question to ask. What should we be asking Cook?

"Is it true that tomorrow we'll be trying to win the game by scoring goals?"

that would have been equally as pointless. each to their own though

An actual Neutral outsider, would see it as a poster not liking a question asked without knowing who asked it. Person who asked it announces that they asked it, discussion takes place about it. The end between the two....

Then add 7 pages of posters demanding I change my view..

The fact that you replied within 4 minutes, making the arrogant assumption that you could see, and were seeing, the thread & your contributions in it "as an actual Neutral outsider", says it all really

Gav could have locked it, but he is enjoying that the focus is on Phil, and that nobody has mentioned another summer has passed without an upgrade, again.

whether mr makin is right or wrong. he has to add comments , if posters keep asking him questions.
the lefty bumfest use to get accused of piling into ' those who thought it ok to boo players taking the knee, people who use play down covid at the height of the pandemic, etc etc.
now some of the posters who use accuse the above of doing this, are now piling in.
for what it is worth i think the o.p. is wrong , but they had been several condemnations of his post , when i read the thread, i saw need to put the boot in .

As there don't seem to be any formerly accused of being 'lefty bumfesters' around atm, I think I'd better just point out that their response was always 'we don't reply as a clique, we reply as individuals who simply happen to think the same way'.
