Strongest XI once everyone’s fit? on 20:55 - Aug 15 by ITFC_96 | I'd hope Aluko isn't starting any games or regularly being on the bench. Any of the younger players would be a better option going off the opening performance of his. Maybe for the pizza trophy though. |
Harsh. He was off the pace at the start but got a lot better towards the end of his hour — and took up very good positions throughout. He’s competing with a number of players but wouldn’t surprise me if he became an important player for us this season.

Strongest XI once everyone’s fit? on 17:22 - Aug 15 by TrumptonBlue | I've never knowingly paid any attention to Edmundson, Burgess or Coulson so have no idea if they're better than what we have. Surprised so many seem to know. |
I think it is clear they have been signed to play ahead of the players who are already here. Whether they end up better than those already here time will tell. However, if they are not we might be in for a long season.

Strongest XI once everyone’s fit? on 17:13 - Aug 15 by pointofblue | Hladky (edit - spelt his name wrong) Vincent-Young Burgess Edmundson Coulson Harper Evans Burns Fraser Edwards Pigott Substitutes: Holy, Penney, Woolfenden, Nolan, Dobra, Chaplin, Bonne Up front is probably the area I found hardest to pick for out of Chaplin, Bonne and Piggot but I think we need the latter's height. Looks good except that I would prefer 20-y-o El Mizouni on the bench ahead of 29-y-o Nolan.

I'd prefer whichever one is best, I mean 'actually' best not just who we think. On the strongest XI though... How on earth, as manager, do you go about sifting through that front 4? I think we can safely say Hldaky is choice keeper. Coulson and Penney fighting out at LB, that's fine, pretty clear. KVY and maybe flirting with Burns at RB instead in the next few games? CB pairing, very likely to be Edmundson and Humphreys (given they're Cook's choice) Woolfenden, Nsiala and Donacien back up. The two in front (assuming 4-2-3-1) Evans and Harper, but now the arrival of Carroll might suggest that's not neccessarily going to be set in stone. Harper may lose out here on the regular basis. Then you move to that front four and I'm just lost.... I'm mean....Pigott is likely the only one you'd want playing up top alone for obvious reasons, but... Dobra and Fraser Edwards and Bonne Chaplin and Barry Aluko and Norwood Aluko may have just played himself out of contention lol and Norwood is injured, but I still think he will have a part to play. I hear Cook talk of options and maybe we'll employ/switch to 4-4-2 more often than he's ever done before. It'll take quite a while before we see a settled team imo.

Am assuming you mean Burgess rather than Humphreys...

Yeah lol, Humphrey's would be a likely disaster, I've also just done an email concerning three different people at different companies all involved in a deal all called David...was a nightmare
