Booing today. 17:09 - Aug 21 with 4582 viewstoronto_blue

If you went to Portman Road today, watched that performance, and decided to open your mouth and boo the team, please do yourself and everyone around you a favour and never, ever step foot in that stadium again.

360 minutes into a new season, with a new team, and you think a draw is worthy of a boo? This isn’t FIFA, these are humans working out how to play together - and if you have any idea of what’s happening there you can see the improvements in quality that we have.

We are not entitled to walk the league from minute one, we have clearly improved almost every player in every position, yet you decide to rock up and just boo because we didn’t win our second home game? Yes you paid money to get in, fair enough - but gain some perspective for god sake.

Embarrassing.

I was talking to Stokie in the midst of that game and said that I felt there could be boos in the air. Not something I would be doing right now, but I can certainly understand how frustrated people are right now.

Unfortunately we live in a world where patience is limited as is people’s willingness to look further ahead than what’s right in front of them. There were lots of boos around me, which I thought was pretty disgusting all-in. Its never served any purpose either short-term or long-term other than a mindless vent.

I saw Cook have a discussion with some moron on the way back to the changing room. Pretty shameful after four games of the season in my opinion.

Fair comment, I’m just not convinced by Cook and wasn’t last season. Matt Gill got a tune out of last seasons squad and we went down hill when Cook signed on I do agree we needed a refresh of the playing squad and was positive about this season but aside from individual quality the same issues are still present.

Hey, look, I'm not totally convinced by Cook either based on his time here. He does have a good record at the clubs he's been at in the past but results speak for themselves so far, they haven't been good.

What I am convinced of is that this squad is far superior to that we had last season and will come good. So despite the frustration at results, there are obvious positives and we should get behind them.

For the most part I really enjoyed watching the game today. Our first goal was just sublime. I don't remember us turning defence to attack like that for so long. We have some special players and I'm so looking forward to seeing us grow. I still have every belief we'll be top 6. We won't continue to make these mistakes, we can't. A week with no match is exactly what we need.

Really annoyed me that people booed. They didn't deserve that.

Never liked the booing before and don't like it now.

However what I will say is that for the majority of the game the fans sounded fairly lively which is good.

So you’ll use use everyone else’s failure and direct it at this new team?

I take it you don’t like Germans now because of Hitler too?

I take it you were delighted with the start of the last two seasons? Remember how they panned out...

A season isn't defined by the first 4 games, if you booed that performance your a disgrace and most definitely not a fan

I dont agree seasons cant be defined by the first 4 games, because its nearly 10% of the whole league season, and ultimately all games whether they are the first four, four in the middle or the last four, get awarded the same number of points, win lose or draw, to write them off just as early season jitters, just hands an advantage to your promotion chasing opponents.

say Town miss out on promotion by 1 point, would you then think damn if only we'd won one more game, but its still ok that we mucked up those first 4 games ?

or would you think damn if only the team could have held on to win one of those games ugly, instead of waiting till they clicked ?

Whilst I didn't boo I sensed them coming and I think it was down to the perceived lack of urgency in the dying minutes where we seemed content with the draw rather than going for the win. The midfield didn't offer any options to our defence and our wide players were knackered; the game drifted and there was no attempt to grab it by the scruff of the neck. If anything, MK Dons looked more likely to score.

I don't think it was the draw, or the previous 85 minutes, just the game meandering to it's conclusion.

we went through 3 months of barely winning last season through xmas and still ended up close

so no, it's still far to early to be worried

I think especially when you consider the lack of entertainment over the last few years, Mick, Hurst, Lambert, Cook last season etc etc...

You're bang on.

We're being swept into the same 'we should be pissing this' attitude that developed under Lambert after relegation, but for different reasons.

Agree with you. I thought our football at times was excellent especially the second goal. We’ve scored more goals and created more chances this season by getting in behind our opponents than we did in the whole of Lambert and Hurst’s reign combined.

It’s coming together, slowly but surely. MK Dons are probably the worst side we could have met today after Cheltenham as they keep the ball well. The damage was done Tuesday night really but we’ll learn and make top six, no doubt. Let’s hope those who boo are quelled or keep a lid on it though.

I didn't boo.

But I'm sick of this new players narrative.

Mk Dons have loads of new players. Morecambe had loads of new players. We have been very poor.

We need to win games, and very fast. Or Cook is going to have some interesting conversations with the new owners

Conversely, we should not be pissing this away either. It is incredibly frustrating being back down to earth when many were on cloud nine after Evans sold the club. If we do not win any of our games in August, it will be a tough pill to swallow - even for a patient fan.

I can understand that people want to vent their frustration. They’ve heard all the talk, all the promise, players with new shirts and fine words - and all they get is two meagre draws from four games against mediocre opposition.

Regardless of the excuses its not the start anyone hoped for or expected. Let’s hope they get their act together soon.

We will beat Wimbledon.. what people seem to forget is that yes there were individual errors but MK Dons are a good side, as are Burton and playing the likes of Morecambe and Cheltenham early doors would always be tough, they’re both riding the wave of being promoted… I wonder if Man City fans cried this much when Norwich beat them the last time they failed be a premier league team.

Anyone that booed today is a cretin, you need to either shut up or Foxtrot Oscar, go back to supporting Man United or Liverpool we don’t want you here.

Not all of this is directed at whoever I am responding too FYI, just the initial point.

Never have, never will boo Ipswich, but I understand their frustration. MK Dons played better than us for spells and probably looked the more likely to win it. Time given to Cook and squad of course, but results will determine who boos and who doesn't. They pay their entrance fee and are entitled to voice their dislike if they choose.

Enjoyed the game. An enjoyable watch indeed.

Again, individual errors cost us. I do feel as though we are close to be a good side, and it’s just the fine margins against us right now.

I actually didn’t sense that any booing would come, but thought it was very strange.
