Simon Dobbin on 10:08 - Aug 26 with 1341 views | Basuco | I think many of us feel that "it could have been me" Simon Dobbin does not appear to have be "a hooligan" for those of us who attend away match's and have not had a fight since primary school, we really feel for him and his family. I like to think the days of a random attacks on football fans travelling to support their team are a thing of the past. I feel that those convicted of the initial attack should now be charged with murder or manslaughter, a strong message needs to be sent to the few remaining nut cases who pretend to be football supporters, so that football can be about supporting your team, home or away, win or lose. Then come home and moan on sites like TWTD about the match.

I'm no 'hang 'em and flog 'em' type but I was genuinely astonished to read in that article that the last of the perpetrators were released this year. Meaning that the most culpable has served a mere 4 years, tops.

100% agree. The charges need to be upgraded and they all need to have a further trial. It's quite a scary thought isn't it, you can be innocently walking back after a game for this to happen. Really feel for his family with this all being brought back up again, but an example must be made! Think we all probably agree the initial sentences were not enough and now that it has been proven he died as a result of those injuries, its manslaughter at the very least

Large crowds showed their respect at his funeral . I am sure he will be long rememberd and missed .

Hopefully the charges can be upgraded, not sure of the law on this.

I like the idea of “Simon’s Law” and making offenders make payments to the NHS. Every pay day a reminder of their wrongdoing.

The blokes and their families involved are scum. Simon's wife had to endure abuse and threats from the families of those who were convicted in the original trial.
