I always thought someone at the club would help you out.

I think they do to an extent, but it’s just an area that was let slide - was something Milts did as player liaison, then latterly more picked up by Chambers and Skuse

But it is surely in the Club's very best interests that the new arrivals settle in quickly and feel established in their new life

Surely a willing estate agent would see this market as a lucrative area to specialise in, kind of Phil and Kirsty but Town fans

i always thought clubs had owned club houses. which players moved in for a few weeks , while they found somewhere to live.
i know someone who have the young lads stay with them ,while in the academy. all vetted and paid for by the club.

Trouble is, Alan Curbishly has already cornered that market.

On this matter, I have heard on the entirely unreliable rumournet, that M.E plans to build a hotel on the bit of land that he retained from the training ground. The idea being that players who need accommodation will stay there.

On players wages should hardly be difficult and I'm sure a hotel will do a deal till your sorted you haven't got to stay at Jack's Cafe

Would your new employers be expecting you to move and start working immediately, in a competitive environment where fine margins can make the difference between winning and losing?

Always thought that pro footballers were cosseted tvvats. Think there was a story some years ago of a Prem player phoning his club because he thought that his goldfish was swimming the wrong way round in the aquarium. Fulham and French guy i think.

Where has it been said that they wouldn't? As Joe has said, it is something that Milts used to do and I thought someone like Theo Benneworth was supposed to help now. (I might have that wrong)

But the club should be as welcoming as possible. Aside from the good impression it gives of the club, why would you not try to help someone who you are paying £100-250k a year to perform at the top of their ability settle in the area? Its just good business too, isn't it?

Is not more of a case of players aren't looking for short term accomodation.

3 year deals, you would hope went onto more, Town has become a place to build a family home etc.

Hotels aren't exactly very homely though, it's possible to feel pretty lonely living in one, esp for younger players and/or those coming from abroad.

Doing as much as poss to help them feel happy, comfortable & supported might well improve their ability to focus on training and playing, so it's not just a question of cossetting them, it could make financial sense too, and also maybe make the difference between a player choosing to join us or go somewhere else, if it's a finely balanced decision for them.

Another role I feel Butcher could have done well in, if he'd wanted it.

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?
