With all the time remaining we needed to bring it down, play it around, take the sting out of the game. Why on Earth were we continually playing long? Pigott didn't do a bad job in holding up the ball but barely anyone was there to support him. We continually gave the ball back and eventally we were going to give in.
Our attack is very reliant on our width and Burns going off really hurt us - in hindsight Cook should have introduced Carroll for him and switched to a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 as Aluko didn't do anything of use whatsoever. But we have we have very little in the middle of the pitch, defensively or offensively, and that's what's hurting us.

I didn't say we would - I said we'll MORE LIKELY be in a relegation fight than a promotion fight. I can't see us troubling the top six with these clear issues unless Harper and Evans start giving us another outlet, as well as being able to tackle and challenge. | |

Think this is exactly it. We obviously need to defend set pieces better but why are we giving them so many chances to put it in our box in the first place? We should be keeping the ball so they never get the opportunity. 50% possession at home against Wimbledon says it all.
Cook acknowledged that this was the problem today so hopefully he knows how to rectify it. If not, I’m not sure if any of his coaching staff do either. Bringing Carroll in would help. |  |
