Cooks coaches 13:37 - Aug 30 with 1900 views | Cheltenham_Blue | I'm a little confused as to where the negativity about the coaching set up comes from? I've seen a few posts indicating that the coaches aren't good enough, some have even stereotypically mentioned 'Cooks scouse mates'. But unless we are the best football educated fan forum in all of football, 99% of us would struggle to name a coach who could do a good job at this level and would come here. So how do we know they aren't good enough? Given that since the season started, we've only had one full week on the training pitch and the odd day between games, which mainly focuses on recovery.

Who's more experienced for them to work with if its not PC? When he took Barry and Leam under his arm, they were both inexperienced. One had slight experience as a player coach ( Leam ) but the rest were all young, inexperienced guys. Jeffers has been coaching a fair while, regardless of level, he's done more coaching than leam did when he became PC's assistant for example.

Cooks coaches on 15:37 - Aug 30 with 496 views | Keaneish | I think a lot of this comes down to the Football Manager generation in truth ie: sign coaches who have more expensive badges and it guarantees player improvement. This of course is nonsense. While there are good levels of knowledge to be gained from more advanced badges, experience accounts for a lot. Would you take Chris Hogg or Gerrard Nash who I think have a good level of badges versus a Gary Roberts who hasn’t but has played nearly 600 games, won three titles, a couple of pieces of additional silverware, been involved in several play-offs and been involved with several teams or player of the year awards? Couple that with a desire to coach and willingness to do the badges and it poses a good topic of debate. As I posted previously, there’s a litany of managers and coaches who are deemed credible by name and have the highest level of badges but have failed miserably and disappeared.

Cooks coaches on 15:23 - Aug 30 by itfcsuth | We unfortunately have some fans who are quite noxious when talking about people who represent our club - not what I personally would deem to be a supporter. I remember reading people referring to Lee O’Neil as the PE teacher - all rather distasteful, and incredibly unnecessary. From the coaching aspect, Jeffers was highly rated at Everton, and Roberts is a long servant of Cook, and have now issues with him moving to coaching after retiring, it’s a natural progression for most and they have to begin that career somewhere. Ian Craney is qualified but again lacks experience in coaching. I think an experienced number 2 would help all 3 coaches. The brutal truth is they could be really good coaches day to day, they’ve been working with this squad for 5 games, so it’s hard to make a real judgement - as we aren’t privy to how they work at Playford Road. |
Six competitive games to be precise, plus the friendlies. And they certainly did not have any positive effect on the games with the previous squad either. It is one of footballs continuous facets that teams will be undone/exposed by a particular weakness - however it is also seen that any particular weakness is quickly addressed and removed where possible. So why are we not dealing with set piece balls into the box ? Surely this is an area you would expect the coaching staff to be dealing with - yet they haven't, and other teams are exploiting it. If coaches from the opposition can see it, then why not our coaching staff ? And if the latter can, then why have they not dealt with it. These latter two questions are, I would suggest, the reason for the concerns so many have expressed over the competence of the 'three amigos'.

As you may tell with my previous year on twtd, mentally went into a different circumstance in life and not one for the better. One of those where life could and probably should have been better, but not to be.
