Who’d Downes be starting ahead of? Morsy? Can’t see how Bishop on the past few season’s form would get a place on the bench ahead of Chaplin, Celina or Fraser in the 10 role. Dozzell maybe in the B team but ahead of Carroll and or Evans / Harper? Not sure.

From last season’s squad… on 08:55 - Sep 1 with 504 views | BondiBlue | Great question. Downes and Vincent-Young in the first team. Nsiala and Dozzell on the bench. Woolfie in the 23s. Dozzell instead of carroll because they're essentially the same player. Toto because he can deal with punts into the box/long throws etc. Vincent-Young because you have to give him a chance to get back to where he was pre-injury. Downes because he was our best player and we haven't replaced him. He'd replace harper or evans, doesn't really matter which on current form. Woolfie because he may one day learn how to bully a striker properly.

I think that ever since we went down, partly because of our feeling for Evans and Lambert, we have, as is right and proper, bigged up our own team - but beyond their talents. While Cook has yet to declare himself the saviour (other than in his own words) he has been proved right about the squad he inherited. Their final destinations and the fact that some are, even there, warming the bench, seem to support his view.
