.....seeing KVY come out and heap praise on Chambers and Skuse........and then Paul Cook talk about how Mick McCarthy spoke so highly of Celina.

It's quite obvious that Chambers an Skuse would have been the first names down on Cooks retain list had they been 2-3 years younger

Agree, but they aren't, which is why most people thought it was the right time for them to go.

I don't think it's anything personal for most fans. Both would get warm applause back at the club.

Absolutely. Great guys and terrific servants of the Club. But totally the right time for them to move on...

Ready! Steady! Cook!

Agree completely. Just think Cook unfortunate that Chambers wasn't a few years younger when he arrived

And hopefully some of the signings made can go on and play a few hundred games for the club as those 2 did over the next few years - it's good to have players here for the long term as we became such a transient club pre McCarthy - players getting to 100 games for us became the norm again

Funny though

" Chambers presence can still be felt around the club"

Whilst Ipswich sit in the relegation zone.

Could we perhaps get rid of that presence?

After all the upheaval of the last few years I would absolutely love for Cook and the core of these players to still be around thriving in a few years time.

Shows a really decent side of a bloke when they don’t just think they are right all the time, and will seek advice from others, and listen

Think that is the 'old school' side of him which is still important for all the data etc that is out there - speak to people you know and trust and get a feel for them as a person

Just leaving this here

Nah, Noggin's observation is..... by Bloots 10 Sep 2021 9:40

Entirely designed to wind up people of a certain political persuasion, without being overtly abusive.

Sending the forum down a winding divisive road while he sits back and watches.

All a bit unnecessary really.

Luckily Cook is relatively honest (no manager can be totally honest) and knows what is expected of him this season - whilst he talks around in circles sometimes he'd fully aware what we've seen so far isn't good enough and where we need to get to. Is much harder on himself than a lot of the fanbase is

Oh Joe... on 13:20 - Sep 10 with 2272 viewsunstableblue

... I am actually a fan of Chambo, and his attitude, fist pumps, taking young players into his house, his captain like dominant performances a few seasons back are just great memories of a good character.

Was really pleased to see him on the mural running along the Cobbold.

Similarly Mick's recruitment of Fraser, Celina and Lawrence were master strokes; and the
way Jonny Williams speaks of Mick just summed up recently what a great man manager he was. Also loved his support of taking the knee recently.

But your post is divisive for the sake of it??... Chambo has just had two poor seasons, surely you cannot deny? whether that was perhaps in part Lambert's fault, or Cook's.. am sure it didn't help.

Certainly Chambers really struggled as full back against stronger wingers in the Championship.

Yes Chambers put in some great displays as well in a few games last season, but his leadership on the pitch and performances on it were starting to look quite weak in my humble view. And indeed he and Ward really went missing for me last season, when in a way we needed them most.

I'm sure KVY and others miss his influence, and there is a risk of a void in dressing room leadership. Does Morsy really want to be here? does he want to lead?

But we needed a fresh start, Chambo had been club captain through a period of mediocrity and a lack of winning mentality. We needed change without a doubt.

Now whether the change that Cook and the new owners are making is going to work.. we'll know a little more 5pm tomorrow.

We needed to move on from Mick and also from Chambo... the risk and challenge is, have we finally got a formula that WILL finally work and improve us.

Lets frickin hope so.
