I've always considered greyhound racing to be horse racing's seedy and chavvy half sibling. I have little to base this on and might be being massively unfair.

....I raced a dog at Romford for a number of years.
At one stage she had won two races in a row, the second one at 3/1.
She was racing again the next week against a lot of the same dogs she had beaten in the previous two races. She should have been odds on, evens at worst, but strangely opened up at 4/1 and drifted to 6/1.
She came last.
A week later she ran again in the same grade, went off at 4/1 and romped it.
I was the owner and I wasn't even let in on the scam. |  |

Tonight was a heat for one of the biggest competitions of the year for puppies worth 20k.
To suggest he might be a non trier here is nonsense.
Unfortunately he missed the break and the crazy bias for wides tonight meant he had no chance of leading the turn at that moment. To then be baulked straight away after meant he also hasn’t even qualified which is a kick in the throat for the whole competitor with him being just one of the three class dogs entered | |
