Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow 22:30 - Sep 10 with 5225 viewsunstableblue

“We’re playing some excellent football this season. The addition of a few players have changed the team. Unfortunately our attack just aren’t finishing off the positive play. Look out for Santos our Centre Back tomorrow, he’s real quality!”

I think Bolton are a step up from what we’ve played so far. And will have a lot of possession. Tough to get the much needed win.

We're still bringing in new players - 2 debutants today - and Morsy to come. So the slow start shouldn't have been a big surprise, although it's been disappointing given that the opposition hasn't been very strong. It may take another month for a settled team & pattern of play to emerge, but do we really look like we can challenge the other "big boys" in this league, such as Sunderland & Portsmouth?

Show me a defender that doesn't make mistakes in a game whether that's the EPL or L1. Have a look closer to home when we've gifted the opposition goals because we can't mark up properly from set pieces. Our defenders have been far from perfect so far. People in glass houses and all that.....

And when they've made those mistakes their performances are described as poor as I am doing now.

Did you watch the match?

They were in League 2 last season one year removed from being a full blown basket case. Let's not talk this fixture up as being tough.

Our squad is infinitely better on paper than either of theirs and is more expensively assembled. They've also had a high turnover of players as did Morecambe who didn't need to use it as an excuse when they beat us. We need to stop making excuses.

To be honest, I watched 'bits and pieces' and from what I saw he looked decent. However, that's not to say I'm disputing what you've said as I've probably missed those incidents you've mentioned. Nevertheless, when Bolton's own fans are giving him high praise after his performances last season from the 46 games and the ones so far this campaign, feel we need to show a bit of respect there rather than classifying him as 'poor' based on 90mins or 45mins in my case. We're pretty honest with our assessment of our own players and they'll be no different with theirs and they've watched him play far more than what you or I have.

Absolutely not. There’s barely another first eleven that is as good on paper as our second eleven.

Please tell me this is a joke?

But they’re giving him high praise for Monday too so I question their judgment.

Have a look at the 2 minute highlights. He’s comical.

Well, we'll see for ourselves in a couple of hours time. If he scores an OG winner for us I won't be complaining.

We drew with Morecombe

I do think you make a good point about other teams also having major change

But I do find it interesting how many neutral mates say it will be possible to have a successful season with 19 changes… whereas the overriding opinion is we should walk the league

Only time will tell!!

Maybe not a winner but it's a contribution. ;)

They are all tough at the moment.

Especially if we are going to need 2 goals in order to get any points every match.

They were sh!t as well. Let's not pretend we've had tough fixtures, this has been an abysmal start. We're worse than under Lambert right now.

And that's a measure of how bad we've been, imo, not how objectively challenging the opposition ought to be.
