Its basics that's our achilles heel. 20:14 - Sep 11 with 1252 views | hype313 | Every goal we have conceded has been by players not doing the simple things, just basics, we're not expecting Franco Baresi but just some nous at the back would be a start. Also, we desperately need Morsy in, Harper and Evans just don't have the minerals to protect the back four or to offer something linking up the forward line, they constantly play sideways. Such a frustrating day again, especially given the feel good factor around the place pre match.

Its basics that's our achilles heel. on 20:20 - Sep 11 with 1217 views | Vaughan8 | Harper and Evans were anonymous. Did they do anything? The defence seem so open and every Bolton attack looked like a goal. The goalie looked very nervous and didn't have a great game. Bonne, aluko and Burns were the best players. As you say, all the goals were basic silly errors.

Two new signings made a mess of things today so clinging to hopes on Morsy is perhaps just following suit. The coaching set up has looked weak since pre-season and nothing seen on the pitch is changing anyone’s mind here. The only decent coaching at the club that was obvious to fans was when Gill stepped up last season. Was he less capable than the Wigan kitman?

Football is a really simple game, as all the great managers tell us. Get these players' heads right ffs. [Post edited 11 Sep 2021 20:30]

Galling, huh? Sort it out ffs. So many good players, and Cook is no numpty. Sort the basics out in training, and stop taking the piss. Ffs!

I've been massively behind Cook but that was an absolute shower with two weeks to prepare. I hope he's man, enough to admit he needs help and Mcgreal gets involved.

I was sat about 3 yards from McGreal, surely it would be wise to bring him in at the very least as defensive coach, appreciate he wants bigger things but nothing is happening at the moment for him. Our coaching seems so light in its experience.

would Cook be big enough to ask McG though, would mean admitting he's not up to the job without a canny tactics man at his side | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I honestly think we have the players for 3-4-3 or yes 3-5-2 Wanna see us then press high, we are ridiculously open at the moment, we lose the ball and we are in no mans land
Its basics that's our achilles heel. on 21:09 - Sep 11 with 990 views | itfcjoe | It’s League 1, every goal is from a mistake in reality - we make more than the opposition. It’s as a simple as that. Ifs, buts and maybes….but we are absolutely miles off it and have been since the very start of the season

Trouble is with playing your full backs as wingers is the gaps you leave, Bolton ruthlessly exploited this today. Evatt knew the game plan We don't press as a unit, and we don't press at the right times. Both central midfielders don't look up for a battle
Its basics that's our achilles heel. on 21:24 - Sep 11 with 921 views | pointofblue | The irony is, with Hladky and Woolfenden there, we looked pretty solid from open play (minus ridiculous mistakes) but shaky at set pieces. Today we looked fine defending set pieces but horrific from open play.

You have to be brave and press high, little playing out from the back, that ball over to their flanks is ok as long as we are up the pitch, again today from the start we didn't look to press at all. carry the ball forward where there is space, you can see it sat up high..

We're 12 points behind Sunderland yet scored the same amount of goals, its clearly our defensive frailties letting us down.

I’ve not said it isn’t, just that mistakes are why goals happen at this level

Its basics that's our achilles heel. on 23:46 - Sep 11 with 627 views | 3_5_2 | Lack of shape. No press Players not goal side. As you say. Basics. At 2-4 there was still 32 minutes left yet nothing. No one stepped up There were no leaders on there today and that is a major concern
