Womens' Football: Southampton Back On Top... 18:15 - Sep 26 with 536 viewsTangledupin_Blue

Southampton Women won 5-0 today (home against London Bees) to leapfrog our Women at the top of WNL-South. Our women did not have a game.

Both are on 18 points having won all of their six games; Saints' goal difference is 30, ours is 24.

Ultimately it looks like it will come down to the games vs Southampton. On the face of it, it looks like both teams are at a level above the others but there's always a risk of a bad afternoon and a solitary draw meaning the season is lost.

Leta hope Portsmouth, who appear to be the "best of the rest", raise their game vs the Saints.

It'll be a farce if it comes down to goal difference. Whilst it worked in our favour last week it seems that we thumped Keynsham because much of their team didn't fancy the long trip to Ipswich so they had to play without most of their first team. For once our remote location appears to have assisted us.

Ipswich are at home to Southampton last game of the season. Think it is just one team promoted, no playoffs.

Whoever wins our division has to playoff with the northern division winners, likely to be Wolves, for the one available promotion place.

The women’s team, along with Southampton, seem to be far too good for the level which they are playing at. Do you know if there a big gulf between the second and third tier of women’s football?
