We mustn't over react to this. 17:27 - Oct 2 with 3671 viewsTheBoyBlue

It is a bad day, but it is a one-off in a sequence of performances that have gradually been getting better.

However, the players really need to hang their heads in shame over today. Completely outbattled and outfought. So off the pace. They HAVE to make sure this is a real rarity from hereon in.

We are generally getting better. Today was abysmal though.

Interesting how Paul Cook now appears to have had not one, but TWO sets of players who are unwilling to battle for him.

I mean, we're 19th rather than 21st in the 3rd division.

How is it a one off? We capitulated in the same way at Cheltenham, Burton wasn’t much better.

The good results seem more the reception over the last 28 games.

In October. If we're here in March then we have every right to question Cook seriously.

Heck, if we'd somehow held on to our lead today we'd be 14th. League position is meaningless at this stage.

It's a one-off on the basis of recent weeks. Genuinely, we just need a bit of context with this.

It's all about context. We showed what we were capable of against Doncaster. True Doncaster were dreadful, but if we play like we did that night, we will win most of our games. It is coming together, but today needs to be a massive kick up the backside to some of these players that we can't just expect it.

Exactly. We were awful today - genuinely terrible.

People seem to be so accepting of this mediocrity but why? It’s football, managers get sacked, players move on etc. It’s so obvious this isn’t working. Just move on.

but dismal performances aren't

alongside the 8 league horrors, you can add two cup no shows

bit of a pattern wouldn't you say ?

It's not just just a bad day though is it...there have been 6 or 7 in a season that is only 12 games old!

Don't be fooled by one thrashing of a team that were awful.

The issue...surely....is that Donny is the outlier.

Rather Wigan’s position than ours though.

Doncaster was a genuine one off. Today is a performance we've seen several times under Cook. Open your eyes, mate.

In fairness, in both cup games we had enough chances to win and probably should have won. I wouldn’t call them no shows.

It's not meaningless, it's ten games in, this is the point at which the league starts to properly take shape. Right now, we're looking at being in this position, come March.

I thought West Ham kids team were fairly worthy winners to be fair. We started brightly for 10 minutes but offered very little over the next 80.

After today, I think it's unclear whether we are actually gradually getting better. This was very much back to square one, but after several more months of work and with first choice players all available.
