If I had said this about Twitter without the ethics bit you would have downvoted me!

I'd love to see Facebook and Twitter die. Although something worse will take its place. Social media is toxic to society.

Probably the most agreeable thing you have ever posted.

Social media is generally poison to majority of the human race.

That's because Twitter is 1,000 x better than fb (I'm not pretending it's perfect either, it obviously isn't, but then neither is TWTD!)

You want to kill something that the Dalai Lama, Barack Obama, John Simpson, Andy Burnham, Eddie Marsan, and thousands more really top people are on & who are free to contact - just don't join, but please leave the rest of us free to access its multiple benefits on a daily basis - including it being the only way I could get BT to respond to my issues when my landline was down 13 times over several months in 2020 & no mobile signal at home.

LOL. I love how in one breath you "wouldn't be too fussed if f'book stayed down forever" but then say "please leave the rest of us free to access (Twitter's) multiple benefits on a daily basis" - just because you happen to love one and not the other.

FB is one of the few things my 85 year old dad can use, and it's great for him and my mum to see pictures of the family (from mundane stuff to weddings) when they're unable to travel about or get to see this stuff in other ways.

Once again you come at a discussion from your own very particular POV.

Also, Twitter is a relatively new thing. How on earth did you cope contacting people like BT beforehand?!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I genuinely believe that humanity will look back on the creation of social media as a major negative.

Truly impaired.

Social media isn't the disease, it's the symptom. The disease is in society, all social media does is allow the most negative aspects of humans to spread and infect others.
Social media fuels the division between people. Before social media existed, trying to find like minded people to talk with took time, and as a result of talking with many different groups is it had a balancing effect on people's views. Now with social media, you have instant access to like minded individuals, so it's easier to to fall into extremes, and have those extreme thoughts confirmed and amplified, like sitting in an echo chamber.
The positives of social media as a tool, are great, but unfortunately humans never use their tools properly or with enough care.

What is the use of knowing about everything else, when you do not yet know who you are.

I didn't, hence when my landline was down 100 times over 20 years in my old house, I had no access to help in a medical emergency (and I had a heart condition at that time too).

I didn't mean literally BT, I said "people like..."

Anyway, that was a minor point. You've downarrowed my post but failed to answer the bulk of it...

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
