Alan Lee played a similar role here when he returned to the club.

Mentors rather that explicitly coaches by the sounds of it. Seems like a good idea.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The interesting one is McShane at United, what's he going to teach them? To be a bang average carthorse at the back? Isn't that what Phil Jones is still at united for?

Sounds a bit like 'Badgers' hockey, I think the rules for Badgers is 2/3 adults in the starting line up and goals can only be scored by the kids.

Little unfair on Mr McShane - he had a pretty good career compared to what most academy players will get. The fact that he didn't make it at Man Utd but still went on to play at a high level elsewhere is a good thing.

Out of that current Man Utd academy team, you would assume only 2 or 3 will make it to the first team, and those players will already have a good idea who they will be. The rest will end up at the likes of Hull if they are lucky.
