Hmm I relented to the missus and ditched the 5 series for the X3 but did so on the basis that the dog can't go in the boot of the 5. Surely that is just practical? I did do the 5 touring for a while but it is a little bit overkill for our needs

To be fair I don’t think 4WD cars are red flags. Golf R is 4WD, as is a Jimny which is borderline but just falls into acceptable territory. Specifically all the Qashqai rip offs and the big Mercs Range Rovers et al are the ones a man should never drive. | |

I think the big old Land Rover jobs for sure but something like a Qashqai, for example, isn't really much bigger than a Ford Focus (and isn't 4 wheel drive) so not really sure what the issue is with those. | |
