Cook’s lack of a Plan B is what will cost us 17:05 - Oct 16 with 783 viewsElderGrizzly

Tactically inept and Cambridge took advantage again knowing we can only play one way.

And whoever is our defensive coach, assuming we have one, should be shot

Not sure you go into a match expecting plan A to fail, and having preset plan B to fall back on.

Cook's problem is that he is being tactically out thought at halftime and then failing to counter the changes made. He is supposed to be an experienced manager but he isn't showing any signs of it when it is needed.

Peter Reid in the background isn't the answer, he needs tactical support in the dugout, not member of the mates club.

Bringing three attack-minded individuals to do defensive duties was his plan today - absolutely baffling.

You don’t expect it to fail, but you know how you’ll react if something changes and he never does.

He simply puts different players into the same formation, when the formation was no longer working.

Agree on Reid. He is just another safety blanket for him. Trying to recreate his Wigan success, when the biggest reason for his Wigan success is ironically having success (again) at Wigan…

He’s backed himself into a corner on the assistant now. It’s whether he admits it is a weakness or not.

It’s all not good enough for a club with this budget, this squad and clearly a higher ambition than 11 points off 4th after only 12 games.

He's decided that's what he's going to do, and even told us previously. Personally, I'd prefer a manager who can read and respond to a game rather than someone who manages by numbers. But there we are, we have who we have (third worse manager in our history after Hurst and Milburn).

With the selection and watching the first half I thought good, he's learnt from the Accrington game. We were pressing and not allowing Cambridge the chance to bully us in the same way.

Come the last half hour it was Accrington all over again ...

A good manager knows how to turn it around when things are not going right. We have been blessed with a number over the years. Royle, Burley and Lyall spring to mind.

As you say you change tactics not waste substitutions by simply trying different players but the same old tactics.

Cook is stubbornly walking into a nightmare with his eyes open. Peter Reid's appointment gives Cook breathing space as the owners have to give it time to make a difference.

Just how much time those running the club give him is difficult to judge.

The thing about time is the more the season wears on, the harder it is to write off his performance last year, as the same sort of things are happening.

We could be 20 points from the Top 2 after Wycombe game.

That’s unacceptable and no excuses

Keep this up and Peter Reid will be managing us.

Edit - put this in the wrong thread.
