When is Walton back? 10:39 - Oct 17 with 2155 viewstractorboy1978

Hladky has been absolutely woeful for us and is going to continue costing us points I am afraid.

Do you think he should have found a way to prevent either goal yesterday?

The second one is headed in smack bang in the centre of his 6 yard box!

Did his best to cost us another as well, flying out and clearly not communicating with Edmundson and their chap missed an open goal.

I agree but Waltons single performance so far is still the worse display in the league by a Town keeper this seas, he had a absolute mare against Bolton. Holy against West Ham reserves is probably our worst display this season though.

Yeah, a think a better keeper is in with a shout of claiming the header back across.

Oh, and sometimes keepers do save one-on-ones, yes.

So you think he should have jumped through the man in front of him and then through/above Edmundson to outreach the 5'11 Ironside from a standing start as the ball looped back in from beyond the back post?

I think he should have organised his defence and dealt with the intial ball.

You may want to watch the corner back. If he was stood on 2 Holys he still isn't getting near that.

Edit...our defensive frailties are way more than just the keeper.

He is allowed to move across his line to get in a better position, you know.

He wasn't strong enough for the second goal. You'd be hoping that a few of our defenders would've blocked off the Cambridge attackers, so he had a more comfortable catch to make . The first goal our defence was all at sea on that right hand side and got pulled across centrally, perhaps all ball watching instead of concentrating on the man they should've been marking? Brophy had the freedom of Cambridge to put that one away. I certainly wouldn't apportion blame for that one, he's come out to narrow the angle and made himself as big as could, but credit to their player with the finish. That's how I saw it for what it's worth.

Walton is still our best keeper out of the 3 IMO, but he needs a consistent run of games to prove it. Not one (against Bolton) and then already some have written him off!

He got bullied and got himself in a bad position.

Opposition have sussed him out.
No dominance in his own box or coming for crosses.

He's been weak all season on crosses.

Did you go watch yesterday?

That long throw in the first half was left to bounce the box...

That is complete rubbish for me as the team in front of him had the mare he had little or no chance with any of those goals .

May I just pop in here

The first goal, he points to the free man, knows it's on, see's he pass happen, yet still wasn't 'in the face' of the player when he received the ball.

Not saying he should have tackled him or been marking him of course, but he should have done more to put the player off.

The 2nd, he slipped.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

He was bullied at Accrington as well, goals have gone under him , shots spilled in the last minute.

Have seen plenty enough of his errors.

Walton back in ASAP , and Holy I’d Walton still isn’t fit .

I can’t remember the last time we had a GK that truly dominated the 6 yard area, came for crosses, organised his two CB’s and could kick the ball half the length of the pitch . Christ, is that too much to ask of keeper these days ? Just why the hell can’t we find one ?

Trouble is Walton looked woeful in his only appearance and he is 5th choice at Brighton for a reason. None of our keepers instill any confidence. That doesnt help the defence in front either.

Bit much?

Walton's played one game for us, in which none of the goals were really his fault, even if one is probably in "could do better" territory.

He already has one League One winners' medal and played 80 games in the Championship.

He won promotion from League One under Cook and played for him in the Championship.

He also spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Blackburn, playing a further 46 games in the Champ.

Calling him "5th choice at Brighton for a reason" is rather harsh and removes context of everything he's done.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He's just too short.

He will always be beaten for crosses like their equaliser when he can't command his box.

We need a 4th keeper!

RIP Sir Bobby

Hladky's 3 inches taller than their goalscorer, plus can use his hands. There's plenty of L1 goalkeepers doing an adequate job for top 6 sides who are shorter than Vas. Plymouth's keeper is shorter, Wycombe's the same height.

The problem is ability and mentality not size.

Caveat to that is that even though Holy is 6"9, he can't command the box either, which is even more damning.

Christian is currently on holiday in Virginia with John boy and Mary
Ellen after the horror show against Bolton, but assures me he will be back between the sticks soon.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Defence seem exasperated by his constant flapping, so tired of every shot on target going in.

One of the more disappointing signings we've made. Sounded like a bargain for a proven keeper from the league below. Not even sure he's any better than Tomas Holy. Hopefully Walton is fit and ready for tonight (and in better form than he was against Bolton!!!).
