Not sure I'd call him a good guy given his role in the Iraq war, but obviously sad he has died regardless.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Good guy

What?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I think if I was a family member of a soldier that was killed, both US and Iraqi by the lies, then that wouldn't give me much comfort, to be frank.

He always struck me as extremely able at any role he undertook. Ok it’s a narrow perspective, but when I think of some of the clowns of recent years and now, unlike the, he’s somebody I’d like to have met.

I'll put myself up for the whoosh then

Still worth reading if people can find the time - fascinating stuff, & no surprise to read of the CIA manipulation.

No, I was just in awe of the idea that if everyone replied to your post that we might be able to break TWTD.

Just to add you should remove that NY Times article. You can't copy and paste entire articles even if you cite the source, it's copyright infringement and can cause trouble for Phil. Using small quotes from copyrighted material is fine as it falls under fair use, a whole article (even whole paragraphs) is a different story.

Edit - I've flagged it as abuse, not because it's abusive, but so Phil and Gav are aware and can remove it if they're on before Ryorry.

Oh right, genuinely wasn't aware of that, I see Phil has now edited it out so my apols to him, Gav, the NYT, & I'll remember for future. I'm sure anyone with RSI will be grateful too.

Not everyone is aware to be fair. I have to be aware of copyright as part of my work so it's something I know a bit about. Much as it's unlikely the NYT lawyers are trawling third division soccer team fan sites, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Given that's an article written over 20 years ago that you've dragged up on an R.I.P. thread re an autobiography written over 25 years ago about events over 50 years ago when Powell was a young officer in his 20s who is no longer around to defend himself (and witnesses, again poss incl. CIA, will also either no longer be around, or are in their 80s) - no.
