This quote from Steve Bruce is tragic 19:19 - Oct 20 with 5962 views | Mullet | If it’s true, and I assume it is to see him bare his soul like that is pretty horrible. Payoffs or not, the lack of dignity on Tyneside is unsavoury. Telling how some players have spoken of his character above everything else too.

This quote from Steve Bruce is tragic on 20:00 - Oct 20 by chrismakin | you and others are saying that his position isn't comparable with SB, however PC has suffered a lot of abuse in his own personal time. Of course, this is countered by happy supportive fans, that's a given. But don't discount that abuse hasn't gone his way since he's been here. |
Have you an example of him receiving abuse from fans during his personal time? Or is this invented?

I've many examples, in time im sure they'll be shared when he's left the club, maybe someone who's already left the club may offer an insight when next interviewed, not my place to share personal discussions.

Considering the size of the stadium and the size of the city, it's not suprising he got more. Have you forgotten what some of our fans called Mick? it wasn't a ground full. but it was enough. whether it's 1 or 10000 no one deserves abuse for doing a job. Just like PC has got, lambert before him, etc [Post edited 20 Oct 2021 20:11]

He has been very poorly treated and certainly didn't deserve the personal stuff. Although let's not forget that he hasn't always shown loyalty in his career - he has abandoned clubs and fans on more than one occasion. Plus, he scored against us for the scum in the League Cup once...

This quote from Steve Bruce is tragic on 19:54 - Oct 20 by chrismakin | Depends what you want to acknowledge tbh There's a mix of posts, just like social media and other platforms and how it varies vocally in places. Some say a slight negative word, some use the same terms as Bruce has spoken off. What Bruce is saying is no different to any other manager, just look at what Mick got called, and gets called now at Cardiff. When things don't go the way the fans want, abuse is thrown. Not sure what you're on about derailing your thread, it's about abuse of a manager. Not even providing an opposite opinion either, fully agree its wrong. [Post edited 20 Oct 2021 20:32]

No double down here Reuser, football is football and with it comes the ugly side which will never change. People can't say poor Bruce like it's unique to him when it's not. Its wrong on all levels, but unfortunately no different at any other club

This quote from Steve Bruce is tragic on 19:25 - Oct 20 by Herbivore | He's always struck me as a decent guy. I remember back when we were last in the Prem him ripping into David Mellor because he'd made some disparaging remarks about Town when we were near the top of the league. |
When his son Alex was playing for us he would quite often come down to watch him...he would sit in the players box behind me. Was a very decent chap and was very shrewd in his knowledge of what was happening on the pitch.

Arf. That was Cook abusing the journalist, if anything. Cook has had no abuse. Criticism, aye. Abuse? Literally none! As you say elsewhere, McCarthy had abuse from a minority, and it is not on. These clowns need a slap. But stop your shoehorning your Cook love-in for one second eh? Or don't engage with every thread maybe? And ffs... for the record, I am very supportive of Cook, notwithstanding some worries about stuff.

The point is what lead to PC talking to the journo about having a day off.. the constant sniping. PC has had plenty of abuse as discussed in this thread I've mentioned Mick, lambert and PC, so not sure why it's a pc lovein and i will post on what ever i want.

Lambert and Cook have had no abuse. Mick did, and it was disgraceful, regardless of if he was shot or the footy was boring or whatever. Look, if you are classing criticism and booing and general ffs shouting on the terraces as abuse forget it, we're talking a different language.

This quote from Steve Bruce is tragic on 22:03 - Oct 20 with 1137 views | Darth_Koont | I can see this thread going the same way. Always amazed at the people who’ve never managed a football team in their lives, let alone at professional level, but who nevertheless have the strongest feelings and theories about managers and their failings. It’s not just insane. It’s hugely draining and counter-productive for any club that wants to actually move in the right direction. Case in point: Was interesting to see the Cowleys on the touch line last night constantly talking but seemingly not making the right decisions. Does that mean they’re suddenly shyte or that they weren’t as good as the hype? Maybe ... or that turning a club around or even keeping a team moving up is one of the most difficult jobs there is. Fans’ feelings about their club isn’t justification for the sort of second-guessing and hyper-critical nonsense we’ve become accustomed to.

I've not classed it as the same. I've also repeated it in this thread its not just about the terraces. However negativity breeds abuse. Without negativity the abuse wouldn't start. Bruce mentioned the desire of him to fail. It's exactly what some journos do to managers it is what sells Some fans feel the same.. if they've let a favorite or 2 go for example. Podcasts clinging onto every negative to push their agendas etc On the actual abuse side of things.. PC has had it thrown at him as he has walked from the dugout. He's had it in pubs Don't see the reason why you and others are desperate to say there's 0 abuse like it's unbelievable that town fans could do such a thing.

I think you’re both right. If that helps. But Dyland is particularly right re: the sort of personal abuse Mick received to his face. My absolute low point as an Ipswich fan, never mind getting relegated to the third tier.
