Probably to end the backlash early.

To be fair, might as well tell him as soon as they have decided. A little surprised they left it as long as they have. I guess it shows a little how much credit he had built up and how little finance they have to pay him off and appoint again. Will be interesting who they bring in and whether they can arrest the slide. Mick Mills suggesting MM and TC might get the Charlton job.

I can't to be honest. Too unrealistic. Not sure grinding out a draw every 4 games would do Norwich much good.

We can imagine it but it wouldn't happen ... thankfully.

Does he still live in Bromley? That'd suit as he edges towards retirement...

I think that may have been part of Mills' thinking. I guess TC is a similar age and would be similarly placed financially to retire too. If MM decided to finish, we could do far worse than have TC as an assistant for Cook, although I think the closest we will get to him having anyone is the current situation with Reid.

Suggests they were offered something they didn't take long to accept. Or that it is a standard statement that is not entirely accurate?

I'd prefer Paul Lambert to Norwich! Let them prove he really was their 'Agent Lambert.'
| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | What hurt more? |

MM sacked (n/t) on 16:09 - Oct 23 with 699 views | TractorFrog | I think this is a real shame. Whatever you say about his final years, Mick McCarthy was probably the only manager of the last five before Cook to leave Ipswich in a better place than he found it, so for that reason I am a fan of him and want to see him succeed elsewhere (unless he goes to Norwich, of course!).

Cardiff fans seem to think they couldn’t afford to sack him, so maybe he agreed to forego most of the pay off he would be owed? Decent of him if so. Seems to have lost what was left of his magic. Think he will struggle to get another job. Unless Barnsley take a punt on him to keep them up?

He definitely left us in a better position than he found us. All while having a negative net spend in the millions. In time, perhaps if we make it to the Premier League and the minority who dislike him are more forgiving, he could attend a game and get some sort of thank you.
