Yep, really nice city. Take half a day to Sopot if you've got time (1/2 hour on the train)...walk the pier & if your thirsty find Konsulat Dobrego Piwa. Lovely little brew pub that was once a gents bog!!! I promise its better than it sounds :)

Went in 2018 I think, on a boys weekend. Stayed in Gdansk and it was a pretty city.
Spent Saturday in Sopot and went to watch some ice hockey near there too. The pier and beach was just like a British seaside town, quite surreal to find that in Poland.
Smash through Pierogi - it's basically Polish dumplings/filled pasta.

Yep had been there about 1000 times before I departed the country.
Gdynia is my hometown that is the part of the 3city aglomeration Gdynia-Sopot-Gdansk.
Best and probably the most charming area in Gdansk is its old town.
As mentioned above Sopot is the place where you should go and visit. The Monte Cassino promenade leads to the Sopot's pier. The number of old, renovated houses, restaurants and pubs. Very quaint place which I'd strongly recommend you to visit.

My lad went with mates. Had a great time. Went to a match at the newish stadium and blasted some heavy machine guns at a shooting range. He did say he wouldn't mess with the locals though..

If you're into history, the Post office, Westerplatte and the Lenin shipyard site are all worth a visit. Malbork Castle (the Teutonic Knight fortress of Marienburg) is a short train ride away. The main street is pretty. Very good pierogi restaurant round the back of the big church. Sopot (again a short train ride) has some nice beaches and interesting architecture.
Stayed in a hostel-type place right on the city walls.

All joking aside I visited Krakow a couple of years ago - fantastic city and although very sobering Auschvitz is a must.
I've also been to Krakow , Auschwitz and the salt mines - all very educational and in the case of Auschwitz as shocking as you might expect. Then I took an overnight train to Gdansk, quite a tiring journey but despite that I found the city, and the waterfronts especially, very charming.
