Other than probably the worst game of the season as Wycombe are dire to watch.
I don't think we have anything to fear, but tey are probably the kryptonite/antithesis to how they play if they get it right - and they have a way of being able to stop other teams playing by fair means or foul.
Do we try and shift it up slightly, get an extra big body in team by either keeping Woolf in at RB or sticking Burgess in at LB ahead of Penney?
It's not a game I'm looking forward to as will be so much anti-football going on which we will more than likely end up the wrong side of and be accused of being sore losers about.

I'm not convinced that playing 4 CB's across the defence is a great idea. Seems to be the road MM went down at Cardiff and it stunts all attacking playing. Wolf didn't really look to pass forward much on the weekend.
Surely we should play our best team and back ourselves to beat them without worrying so much about the opposition? You've said in many posts that the squad is easily good enough for this league and that we should be beating teams. Changing to suit other teams doesn't seem the way forward to me as we end up just being a worse version of them.

Surely we should play our best team and back ourselves to beat them without worrying so much about the opposition? You've said in many posts that the squad is easily good enough for this league and that we should be beating teams. Changing to suit other teams doesn't seem the way forward to me as we end up just being a worse version of them.

We need to do what we failed to do at Accrington and impose our game on them. If we keep the ball on the deck and out pass them, they wont be as effective as usual.
On the other hand if we get involved in their type of football and start going long too often then we will inevitably come out second best.
It's definitely not a game for the likes of Penny or KVY though, we need to be strong with the basics defensively and be prepared to head a lot of balls away from the box.
It's about time we stood up to one of these teams and put them in their place, lets hope we can do it. [Post edited 1 Nov 2021 15:33]

I'd drop KVY in at RB and Coulsen at LB and go at them. If we sit they'll bully us - front foot for me against a team that, if we can get the ball moving about quickly, might well struggle to keep up with us. |  |

You have to have some respect for how the opposition will play and make minor adjustments to sort - without matching them like for like at times.
Hard to know where we are with injuries, but you often find if somone isn't fit or well enough to be in the 18 on a Saturday then unlikely to be fit to start on Tuesday.
So do you stick with Woolf at RB, or go with KVY there? I thought Woolf was better and made a bit more forward progress in second half so may be able to build from that? His ball to Bonne for the chance as an e.g.. | |

Given how well we've done this season against the more physical sides we've played - Cheltenham and Accrington in particular - this match, and Rotherham, has to be a big concern.
Defensively, it might make sense to be as solid as possible but not sure changing the defence again is a great idea either.
Further forward, I would hope that the skill of Celina could add something more of a challenge for their defenders. Garbutt's quick thinking (or was it Judge's suggestion?) to play the early free kick for Norwood was a moment of real sharpness in that fixture two years ago.
It might also be a game to play Pigott with Bonne for far more than the odd 10 minute spells they've got together. |  |

I don't really agree that Wolf made much more forward progress in the second half. He nearly always looks to play backwards to Toto, far more than even Doncacian. I think we should play a RB at RB if they are fit rather than a CB at RB and possibly another CB and LB just because the opposition lob the ball forward a lot.
I don't think the other promotion contenders would be doing that and I don't think we should either. Seems like if Cook did that he'd be open to all sorts of attacks on here.
I do worry there is possibly a school of thought to crowbar Wolf in because he's an academy player - I might be wrong there though. Personally I don't think he was great at RB at all on the weekend so I'd probably play KVY which might be a gamble but we have to win don't we? Therefore we need to get forward and try and score and for me Wolf isn't the RB to do that.

The only change to make would be dropping Woolfy in there for KCY if Donacien isn't available. I'm assuming, that JD isn't fit to be honest!

Well hopefully JD is fit enough to play. Phils report says KVY is still sidelined. If Woolfenden has to come in then so be it, but I’d prefer we play our own game. and not worry too much about them.

They played Sam Vokes on the left wing on Saturday and he won 10 headers, had 9 shots and scored - I just don’t think you can put KVY there or he is going to be totally destroyed
If Donacien is available he comes back in, if not I think you have to stick with Woolfenden
I doubt Coulson fit to start either after 8 weeks or so out so it’s likely Penney again on the left, a shame Kenlock not in squad as he is better in the air without losing that much going forwards | |

I don’t think we should play into Wycombes hands. Whoever we put out, they’ll out-match us physically. On the other hand, I worry about starting both Edwards and Celina. So Makins choice of Pigott at 10 isn’t so mad if we haven’t got Burns and Aluko. Maybe Chaplin right and Celina left if that’s the case.
It’s time for Celina to make good if he’s the marquee signing. He’s got to step up in tough games and if Wycombe want to kick him then he’s got to take it and draw the fouls and the yellow cards. Cook preferred Coulsen to him on Saturday which doesn’t feel right when he’s supposed to be too good for this league. | | | |

I compared him to Chaplin as I said id play Piggott in the 10 so we have extra height in the side.
Accelerating from players inside the 2nd half is great against tiring players correct, but I don't yet see him ready for a start. We will see of course.
We've gone up against certain types already this season and lost trying 'our way' to win some games you certainly do have to match them. | |
