What we really need is a group to stand everywhere along the lines of Martin Bell (whatever happened to him in terms of his political campaign?). We need them to stand on a simple manifesto:
1 Bring proper restrictions to politicians that prevents the corruption, makes MPs rely on their salary and not fringe benefits and empowers independent bodies beyond what they already have (we came so close to Pattinson getting away entirely and it being given the big thumbs up to all he is doing).
2 Changing the electoral system to some form of proportional representation so that we cannot have around 40-45% of the electorate electing landslide Governments who can do as they please for 5 years with no accountability.
3 Link MP pay to public sector pay rises.
Whether that can come from the current opposition parties working together or would need some separate group to stand is the big question. However, I would love to think a "clean up politics" mandate would get sufficient support to be elected. Maybe that's just naïve of me, though.
They need a candidate who does their homework, is selfless in serving the public and who’s non-decisive and appreciated by all. So HarryFromBath it is then (Guthers and Steve_M as deputies).
I will be publish my price list for how much I’ll accept for ask specific questions in the house, which will of course be payable to the Keno Charitable Trust that is based in the channel Islands, not for tax avoidance reasons but because the money os solely to be used for the refurbish of a run property on the island that has nothing to do with my plans to retire to that island at some point in future.
