While I'm on one tonight, can I just say these scenes from the Deer Hunter are exactly why modern films shouldn't be cut or shot in the way they are? These build-up, background scenes add so much.
I've heard people complain that it's a slow film etc. But that's sort of the point of that part... Great movie. Will need to re-watch now :)

I love it and could watch it every week. The scenes in the steel works, rhe wedding prep, the hunting trip… yes it makes a slow watch, but it makes a more rounded complete story.
