Electric bulbs and ageing 16:50 - Nov 27 with 1431 viewsBLUEBEAT

I am getting old. Went to buy a bulb and was so confused. You can even get ones that are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and you can play music through them.

What the actual fck?!?!?!

Me too, had a similar experience recently and ended up by totally confusing the poor young lad in B&Q.

Give me a 40 or 60 watt any day and I know where I am!

I bought a selection of incandescent 100w and 60w bulbs about 15 years ago.
Unused they pretty much last forever although I only ever have one in use and all the rest are energy saving ones.
Nice to have the option though.

I actually have the IoT lightbulbs for smart control. Practially speaking, the hallway lights turn themselves on when my phone is within a defined distance to the router. I can also turn off all the lights if I roll into bed without having to drive myself round the bend wondering if I forgot to.

At least I know what the 'w' stands for now.

Tell you what, make fun all you like, but if you enjoy running around the house killing the lights whilst billy bollcks - especially this time of year, all power to you.

I think you must be doing it the wrong way round. You turn the light off as you leave the kitchen, not as you enter.

Wait until you start looking at lumens instead of watts - it will blow your mind.

As for LED lights they never last as long as promised, so I’m not convinced they really pay for themselves before ending up in the bin.

Apparently in Peru they refuse to use LED light bulbs because they're so proud of their Incandescent...

I have Philips hue bulbs in the lounge and they’re pretty cool but cripplingly expensive. I would also say that all these modern light bulbs may be very efficient but they’re not exactly bright are they and they can take ages to warm up.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Tsk tsk, you need to recycle those bulbs under WEE...

Is that what people in the UK use for heating since electric bills went up?
