We would need 11 points AND the team in 6th to lose every match they played over the time it took for us to get them AND the teams in between us to do worse than us by the tally of the current gap.
On current form the teams in 6-8th are going at 12 or 13 points from 6 matches. So, we need a form turnaround of the proportion of us winning 11 straight league matches to get into 6th. That is nearly half of our remaining matches and we would then need to maintain top 6 form to stay there as well. We have 7 points from our last 6 matches. | |

That really is a huge ask, even at this stage of the season.
As has been noted previously, it isn't just about chasing down 6th place, but we need to better the results of every other team between us too, so we need to better Portsmouth in 9th position by 8 points too.
Don't like being doom and gloom, but we are going to have to go on a hell of a run to get top 6 from here. |  |

I guess the only positive is we ripped apart Pompey and Wycombe and yet they’ve both rebounded in some style. Although of course the flip side of that argument is we have at no time ever under Cook looked like putting any kind of run together.
